You're right, B. I thought the student section was great tonight as well. Kudos to the entire crowd too, I think everyone was rocking the BC tonight.

Pitino looks possessed

+1,000,000

Student Section was great tonight for a Tuesday night game where a lot of students made lame-ass excuses for not going. The section had a good crowd and it was loud for most of the game, especially at times when we went on runs! Great effort MU students!!!

We sit directly across from the student section and we were commenting that this was definitely their loudest game of the season. Very impressive. Now to really end the regular season, make us forget about this game and bring it for  ND

For what its worth, I thought the student section was great (and yes, I am a student...and perhaps a bit biased.) But I want all you alums to know...some students still do it right...my friend and I were standing in the upper deck all game...cheering for our Warriors. And we ended the night at Hegartys (which sadly, is closing in June..), and we closed the bar at 2:15.

So I just want you to know some MU students still go "all-in" for their Warriors, even if we do have mid-term exams tomorrow at 9:00 A.M.

This has been a great ride. We all need to stop and realize how much this season has exceeded our expectations....we are dancing, Baby!

Hegarty's is closing in June? Sad to hear - another one bites the dust. I took a bus driven by Big Jim to a MU-ND game in South Bend back in the day. We had a keg in the back and stopped at every rest area along the way. Good times...

Kind of spur of the moment.  We all knew via the e-mail before the game that the first 4,000 students got a free t shirt.  Didn't know it was baby blue.  But once they got through the lower bowl the baby blue-out was on, I guess.

The blue did look great. In my opinion, a give-away is the only way to go if you are going for an effect like that, at least at MU. To the folks that went to the Cuse-Nova game, did they give away the orange shirts? That whole stadium was orange. Impressive.

I remarked that the crowd was kind of weak pre-tip and during the intros.  Sometimes that student section gets really loud during intros and you get chills.  However, once the game started, they got loud.  Really solid crowd overall, definitely a fun atmosphere.

I felt like everyone was watching that sweet Al video they were playing during U2.

Tragic, I know.

I heard that the entire building was bought out and that modifications would be made and Hagerty's spot will not be renewed.
I could be mistaken, however.

I thought the crowd did a great job last night but it should be like this at every game.....the players feed off of this....I was glad to see it because I feel that the entire area outside of the student section this year has been a little lame - but this has been discussed ad nauseum so I will let that comment rest.

On another note, I did notice that everyone got an orange t-shirt at the Tennessee/Kentucky game last weekend.  I think that looks so impressive on tv.  Outside of the media guide book the season ticket holders got, there hasn't been any other giveaways this year.... I miss the bobbleheads to be honest with you.... :)

I have been very critical of the student section this past year, however last night they brought the energy.  It wasn't full by any means, but the kids that showed up were very into the game.

Kudos on the multiple Karen Sypher chants... by far the loudest and most together the student section has been for any chant in a long time.  and right when we needed a boost in the 2nd half... there it was again.  i laughed everytime knowing that Pitino will be reminded every road game of how much of a trashball he is.

I agree that the student section was superb last night.  The rest of the place was way better than normal too.  I was concerned that with the week day and late start that the "working folk" wouldn't come out, but they did, and they were loud, and often on their feet.

R.A. Smith, a/k/a "Jump Around Guy" did a nice job shifting his routine to the student section.

Bought out by Marquette, for the sake of accuracy.

No shirt giveaway for that one, which makes it even more impressive.  Kinda embarrassing that MU fans (alums...) can't figure it out, but 34,616 in NY can.  muhoosier260 is right, the only giveaway was a small orange towel on everyone's seat.

are u sure?? I'm pretty sure I saw custom made tees for that game...
if not, that looks pretty bad on our part that we can't even get a gold out

I had the best seat I've ever had in the student section and the atmosphere was electric all night long. The fans that actually made it to the game were amazing. Even the alums got out of their crotchety, stuck-up "we're just going to sit here and clap" ways. There were plenty of alums who got up and shouted right at Pitino which I thought was great. As I said, the Students that got to the game realized the importance of it all and brought their A game.

Unfortunately there were plenty fellow students who did not recognize the importance of the game. In my opinion, if you spent the 100 bucks for season tickets then you NEEDED to go to this game. If you're not willing to go to the second to last game of the year against Pitino and the damned Cards in a fight for a spot in the field of 64(or 65 whatever) then you should give in your fan card and not buy tickets next year.

The Notre Dame game will be sold out. I can only hope that my fellow students don't let their Chicago loyalty get the best of them and wear green. I know we'll see some Irish fans in the Students, but I can only hope we get some A**HOLE chants from the students around them. I'm sick of playing second fiddle to that university. This is Lazar's night, not Touchdown Jesus'.

I'm planning on going to the game as early as possible. Like 8 AM and hope I see Buzz with some donuts. Also thinking of bringing a "Notre Who?" sign or possibly "Marquette Football > ND Football"

We were there and were not offered a shirt nor did we see anyone offered one.  We walked around campus beforehand and nearly everyone already had an orange shirt on of some type - many were the "me and 34,616 of my friends" shirt (which would add up to 34,617 wouldn't it?!).  We did see some guys holding shirts up for sale as we waited in line to get into the dome but that was about it.

Note also that while a lot of people had that shirt on, MANY had other ones on (several of the six overtime, several of just SU, and lots more types).

That is impressive. Apparently there is no great angst among alums about being the Orange, otherwise maybe only the women in the crowd may have complied with the "Orange Out".
