This has nothing to do with Marquette but it speaks to the classlessness of some coaches, and why people in Iowa hated Alford...

So? Maybe the kid is an a**hole.
I honestly didnt have a problem with it. It was hyped so much and when i first watched it earlier today i didnt really care. I was watching the game yesterday when Taverni got into it with a UNM player. Then through the line you could tell he was a cock. I dont get the big deal about tell a player they are an A Hole.

I don't think Alford was the bad guy in this exchange (although he should be held to a higher standard b/c he's a coach)
From another article:
Alford said he was trying to congratulate Tavernari, whom he called one of his favorite players, but the compliment apparently fell on deaf ears. The video shows Tavernari and Alford jawing at one another as the teams progress through the handshake line. At the end of the 18-second clip, Alford appears to be surprised at Tavernari's reaction to their exchange and says "You're an pretty boy" as the video ends.
After the incident, Tavernari went to the New Mexico locker room to apologize to Alford. He also offered to apologize to the rest of the Lobo team.
"You don't have to," Alford replied. "You just shocked me. You're one of my favorites."
"I just lost my cool," Tavernari said."
is pretty boy really the filter for pretty boy?
what about bung hole?
Steve Alford is not a good person.
How is Alford the tool? The kid is a punk college kid who probably was disrespectful or said some stuff to Alford and obviously Alford wasn't going to take any crap from that punk. I applaud Steve Alford for what he did.
the player was acting like an a-hole and deserved to be called an a-hole.
The protector of rapists throughout the midwest.
Steve Alford reminds me of Thomas Crean.
What do you expect from a Bob Knight disciple?

The BYU kid also refused to shake the UNM kids hand after the skirmish too.

There seem to be a few in IU that wish he was TC.
Not sure why it has to be one or the other. Alford is a well documented jag off, and the player was out of line as well. But, Alford demonstrates yet again, why he will remain a mid-major coach.
