Title: Double Bye
Post by: willie warrior on February 28, 2010, 02:20:47 PM
Double Bye Speculation:
West Va. is 11-5 and would own the tie breaker against us. Their remaining two games are with Georgetown at home and at Villanova. If they were to lose both games and we won our last two, we would get a double bye.

While this likely is a long shot, I would guess we have about a 10% chance of this happening.

What do others think our chances are?

6.3%

Mathematically, according to Pomeroy coming into today, it was 17.9 percent. If Gtown upsets WV tomorrow night, mathematically according to Pomeroy coming into today, it shoots up to 42.6 percent.

Unfortunately, I have a feeling WVU will accomodate MU. The problem is, I have a terrible feeling MU will lay an egg against Louisville, and make it moot. :(

I've got to like the fact that ND just beat Georgetown at home by 14 without Harangoody.  Georgetown seems like a very talented team that has trouble bringing its best game every night.  If playing against one of the three BE teams ranked ahead of it (maybe 4 teams by tomorrow) isn't enough to get them going, hopefully, embarrassment over the ND loss will provide that extra little spark.

Don't just focus on WVU, Pitt's only a game in front of us, too.

Pitt has home games against Providence and Rutgers left.  Slim pickings there.

I like the odds better now that nova and g-town just lost.  those teams need victories to stop the bleeding.  Not likely, but really, wouldn't be terribly shocking either.

Not sure I'd characterize it as laying an egg if MU doesn't play it's best game on Tuesday. Can't imagine how tired those guys must be, both physically and emotionally. Maybe they can just keep riding the wave.

I hope ND loses their game this week so they don't come in on a roll needing to beat MU to give them a good shot at a bid. I'd much rather have them come in down figuring they blew their chance.

This is my KENPOM shoutout. I mean, seriously, how good has this guy been at making predictions, or atleast MU predictions, this season? I remember like 7 games ago he predicted an 11-7 MU finish- Amazing

He gives MU a 70% chance of beating UL and 77% chance of beating ND- gotta love that. Still says MU finishes 11-7 though, so hes basically saying the boys will lay an egg one night- hope hes wrong there

MU needs to win one of the next 2.  I don't want to think of the scenario of losing both and then having to play a UCONN or St. John's (at MSG) with the potential of a 3 game losing streak.  Need to win one of the next two and it's all moot.
