Class of 2003.
Sad.
Knowing Jaime, I can't say that I'm really surprised by this. In fact I kind of figured something like this would have happened earlier.
Made a mention in the Chicago Tribune this morning:
Sportscaster Coppock assaulted
By Phil Rosenthal
Tribune staff reporter
Published February 16, 2007, 6:00 AM CST
WMVP-AM 1000 sportscaster Chet Coppock was nursing a shiner on his right eye after an incident outside Rosemont's Allstate Arena following Wednesday night's DePaul-Marquette basketball game.
Coppock said Jaime Waldron, 25, of Milwaukee was seated near him at the game, and he complained to Waldron about his abusive language. The dispute continued outside in the parking lot, where Waldron is alleged to have popped him.
Rosemont police said Waldron was charged with battery and a court date is set for March 6 in Rolling Meadows.

And from the NBC affiliate in Chicago:
OSEMONT, Ill. -- Sports broadcaster Chet Coppock was punched by a 25-year-old man Wednesday night as the two left Allstate Arena after a DePaul-Marquette men's basketball game, Rosemont Police said.
Jaime Waldron, of Milwaukee, was arrested immediately after the incident and has been charged with battery, according to Rosemont Police Sgt. Keith Kania.
The incident happened after the game let out, although Coppock said he had noticed the man much earlier in the evening because he saw him behaving offensively.
As he was walking out of the arena with his girlfriend, Coppock said he and Waldron brushed against each other and the man began to "berate" him. Waldron continued to harass Coppock outside the arena, following him to his car, Coppock said.
There, he struck him in the right eye, Coppock and police said. Coppock said his retina might have been damaged and that he had a CT scan at a hospital.
"He decked me with one blind shot,'' Coppock said. "He threw a punch I never saw.''
Coppock's girlfriend alerted security, who detained the man.
Coppock said he does not know whether the man recognized him. Waldron did not immediately return a phone call.

Fortunately, none of the articles identifies pos Waldron as a Marquette fan.
Since he made the trip down to DePaul, I'm guessing this guy is a season ticket holder. Marquette should pull his tickets immediately and ban him for next year. What an idiot.
Know the guy. Works where I work and he graduated with me in '03. Can't say I'm all that surprised. He also wears Cincy basketball shorts when he plays basketball......should have been a hint. :o
What a freakin pretty boy. Nothing better then listening to sports radio all day yesterday, and having MU's name dragged through the mud.
Who punches an old guy? Honestly.
15 seconds of shame:
I am ashamed that he holds the same degree that I do. Hope he has a nice time in jail.

Jaime Waldron, of Milwaukee...I don't think it really matters much becaue every team has their share of douche bags, but I thinks its probably a fairly easy deduction.

Umm..no. Not sure I'd be very comfortable with something like that happeneing. Would create an awful dangerous precident and a whole lot of gray area.

I know it said he's from Milwaukee. I know a few kids from Milwaukee that attended DePaul. I was just happy that none of the print articles tied this pos to MU.

Yes, the dangerous precident of punishing people who beat up old men in parking lots after games and cause national embarisment for the school.

Agreed.
Agreed Rawdog. It says as much on the back of the ticket. Marquette has the right to refuse service to people who scream obscenities and punch out old men. Simple.
On a side note, it was brought up on the radio here in town today, and someone pointed out, Coppick was there with his girlfriend...not his wife. Getting punched may turn out to be the least of his worries.
So, maybe this kid was just fighting for family values.
You guys are scary. It says it on the back of the ticket? Unfortunately his actions in the parking lot of the Allstate Arena don't really apply. National Embrassment? That's a bit strong wouldn't you say? I had absolutley nothing to do with this. I am in no way embarassed. Nor should anyone else be.
Damon Key hit his girlfriend...should he be banned from MU games? Marc Moratta has been linked (alegedly) with some heavily questioned deals while working for the Governor of Wisconsin. Should he be banned? I'm sure there is more than a handful of Season Ticket holders who have been busted for DUI. Should they be banned? Should any Marquette student busted for underage drinking, disorderly conduct, etc. be banned from attending games? Where exactly do you draw the line on events taking place nowhere near the Bradley Center that warrant banning people from games? I am in no way condoning what this jack ass did, but in terms of punishing people who punch out old men - think that's for the Rosemont Police/court system to take care of, not Marquette University.

Yes, hearing about a Marquette alum punching out an old man is embarassing. I heard about it again while driving my son to school out here in Los Angeles. So, now it's national. Maybe not a broad national embarassment, but definitely a national "sports" embarassment.
Whether you like it or not, this jackass was representing Marquette. It started in the arena with him yelling obsecenties like a beligerent loser. It's not about being a moral authority and searching people's records for DUIs. If your business is showcasing college basketball games, you'd be smart to ban people who are known to disrupt them.
Like I said, if Marquette wants to ban a now known troublemaker with a history for doing so at college basketball games, then they have that right as a business and an institution for higher learning.

In that case, can I get rid of the knucklehead who sits behind me? Otherwise I am afraid I may go Jamie Waldron on him one day - then I'll be the one to get banned. :) BTW, how on earth would they enforce such a ban - give all the ushers a picture?
Still have to disagree on the whole National Embrassment thing.
Is Chris Farley an embrassment to Marquette?
Is Marc Moratta?
Joe McCarthy?
They all have been involved in issues that were far more publicized than this dope.
I understand what you're saying, and by no means am I proposing policy, but flagging his name in the computer so that he can't buy cheap season tickets from MU would be fine with me.
The Pistons, along with the NBA, banned some fans after the brawl. I recall a few teams have pulled season tickets from certain hecklers as well.
William Ligue Jr. comes to mind too.
I've too wondered how they know/enforce people "banned" from coming into games. Ligue is banned from White Sox games, but what's to stop him from walking up to the ticket window and plopping down $20 to get in?
Sometimes adding another hoop to jump through is punishment enough. Ligue Jr. can probably walk up to a ticket window and buy a ticket to see the Sox, but it's fair to assume that at least 50% of the time that some employee or fan will recognize him and inform security. So he pays for a ticket, sees an inning or two, and then is escorted from the ballpark.
I imagine it's like walking around with a warrant. You can get into the game, but you're always looking over your shoulder.

Agreed, getting your nuts chopped off and being taken for 1/2 of everything you got is going to hurt more than a punch to the noggin.
He is innocent until proven guilty, so you can't ban him from Marquette games.
Also, He's not going to serve jail time over a sucker punch.. He'll pay a fine and get probabation.
