This is becoming a concern.  Don't you think? ?-(

My guess would be that maybe it's not worth missing the classes to travel with the team.  Who knows though?

Otule is traveling though, and Buzz has said he's a redshirt.

Otule also got ahead by taking winter interim classes.

I think it definitely is a concern and something is up. Doesn't pass the smell test. Didn't want to be the first to say it, but now that it's out in the open, this is not normal injury behavior. I, for one, will be very much surprised if Yous is back next season. Buzz continues to recruit.

Especially since he only has a sprained knee.  It would be one thing if he had trouble getting around and needed a lot of rest after a serious injury, but that's just not the case.

Just about to post the same thing.  I always check out the bench during TOs when I get a chance, and I have not seen Yous there in a while.  Maybe we'll know something once the season is over and the signing period begins.

FWIW, he was on the bench for the Pitt game last week....does seem strange that he has not traveled at all though.

For christ sakes.

Yes he is injured.  He was on crutches at one point right after the injury and still wears a brace.  Additionally he messed up either his hand or wrist right before sustaining the knee injury.

Take a chill pill. These are legit questions. Do you not agree that his absence is quite odd. Is it inconceivable that a decision has already been made on him? Do you think he's a team member next season? Buzz showed obvious frustration with his progress and never publically discusses him. Why does Buzz continue to overrecruit?

Since he looked like he was completely clueless when he did play i don't think it is a loss. If we want someone over 7 foot on the team who looks like they never played basketball we could just as easily put out an ad in the paper for the tallest person in the city of milwaukee and have them as a walk-on. It would save a scholarship. That is how useless he is.

Hasn't he said he continues to recruit because he feels it is necessary to never stop recruiting?  You never know what will happen between now and the start of next season, so might as well take a proactive approach.

Aren't we being just a little hard on a guy that has only played half a season of College basketball?  How effective was Thabeet his freshman year?

As stated earlier, he was on the bench, in a uni for the Pitt game.   This does not spike my worry meter, for several reasons.

Asking where he was last night is a legit question.  Your implication that the injury was fake is not.

And no, I don't agree his absence is odd.  If he were not around when they play at home, then it would be odd.  But he's still at the home games and still with the team, just not able to travel.

I never read "fake", even between the lines.

After much thought, I can understand not being able to make road games.  It's a lot of travel, especiall the 3 road games in 7 days.  Plus what is Yous going to do when the team flies out there?  He'll miss some film and some walk throughs...that's about it.  Sure watching film is important to do and I'm not dismissing it, but school is more important.

I don't see a huge amount of difference between study tape and watching from the sideline. Some may arguing watching tapes is more beneficial since you can break it down. Also, I don't think he has the intangibles to be the guys who is motivation on the bench. Players like Forzena knows he has to support players and get them excited. Yous again might not have that for cultural reasons. I don't think he helps the team while sitting on the bench.

That said,  I'll put in my pure speculation. I think Yous just needs more work in the classroom than others. Cultural barrier and he might even care more about his education.

For some reason I thought he didn't travel with the team earlier in the year. Would be standard practice for him.

Maybe Yous can be the team mascot. If he only had Terry Reason's hairdo, the embarrassment level on court would be the ultimate.

Just speculation ... and someone here probably knows the answer ... but is it possible that with the team playing in New York last night and New Jersey on Sunday, they're not flying back to Milwaukee until after the Seton Hall game?
And, if that's the case, perhaps that's why Yous isn't traveling, the thinking being he has more to gain by staying in school and working out at the Al for those five days than he would sitting on the bench and in hotel rooms?

If he's at home games I wouldn't worry...maybe he's still adjusting to America, college, etc., maybe it was the coaching staffs call to have stay back and continue to work on game details, maybe he's having issues traveling within the country because he's a foreigner (depending on what country your from in this post 9/11 world will determine what paper work/restrictions are placed on you within the States and your ability to travel)...all possibilities that need to be considered.

You also have to consider the stress that travel can have on an injury or the healing process.  I don't know the exact diagnosis, but it's certainly possible that the doctors gave Yous a "no travel" restriction until he's healed to a certain point.

Not everything in college basketball is a conspiracy.  Also remember that a student-athlete's medical issues are protected by law and can only be disclosed under certain guidelines.

He doesnt really need to travel with the team.  I would rather he stay on campus, rehab his injury and focus on school than travel with the team just to watch.

Marquette charters flights.  It's quite easy to fly.

But I don't think there's anything more to the story than he's injured and class was a factor.

But if he would have traveled with the team he would not have had to listen to those two announcers while watching the game on TV.  He would be in a much better mental state when the team returned to Milwaukee.

Going to be really tough on them over the next almost week.  Getting home maybe around 2 am, go to class and prepare for SH today, practice tomorrow, fly right back on Saturday, get up very early since it's a Noon EST start on Sunday.  Fly home, not having until midnight to take it in but needing to start prepping for Louisiville immediately, prepare, practice, and take care of school Monday, then the game Tuesday night.  At this point in the season, not having much depth, and with back-to-back roadtrip overtime games it's got to be tough on them.

Consider - Yous can't redshirt this year, so if Marquette can do ANYTHING to get him ready to play a few more minutes this year - that's what they'll do.  Just throwing in something for consideration....

We have a winner!  What good does it do Yous to travel and sit around watching practice and the game when his numero uno need is to bulk up and gain muscle for next year.  If I was running the team I wouldn't let him leave tthe weight room and meal room other than to go to class and possibly the bathroom
