Title: Acker and Buycks
Post by: PuertoRicanNightmare on February 24, 2010, 10:06:13 PM
I thought two guys who really contributed to today's win were Buycks and Acker. Buycks was solid in the first half...wondering where he went in the 2nd. And Acker continues to have just a fantastic season. We are so lucky he came back. Of course, Hayward was typically solid, as was Butler (although I think he's gun shy around the rim for some reason)....just some solid contributions all around...despite the fact that, as a team, we weren't firing on all cyclinders.

Hardly anyone really looked good tonight.  Acker's three was huge though.

Fulce also put in some solid minutes when Hayward got into foul trouble.  JF seems to get to a lot of loose balls.

for two games now we have at times gone with 3 forwards.  a direct result of fulce playing so well.  fulce playing well is a better option than cubi

Fulce has always had those long arms that gave him a chance,... but now he's actually playing well at times and showing confidence.  I'm impressed and think he can be a solid contributor going forward.

I have to agree with the first reply in that not really anyone looked good tonight. We had alot of open looks from deep that we usually drill. Its still good to come away with the W though. We are gonna need alot of guys to step up as we got for road win #5 on sunday.

St John's is made for Fulce to play against. ST. John's is a smaller quicker team, which is much better for Fulce than a bigger slow down team. The same for Buyckes. Buyckes needs more strength to play against the bigger and more physical teams.

And you can't complain about Fulce hitting that three.  He's made one in the last two games.

Acker's 3 was huge but the missed FT on the front end was brutal.

Acker's missed front end of one and one was huge also.

Acker contributed in ways that really don't show up on a stat sheet.  He had one turnover as the primary ballhandler.  (Buycks and Cubes had three and two respectively).  He played very good defense that forced St. John's to run the clock down pretty much all night.  He has been fantastic this year.
