man we got so lucky during this game......
buzz williams cannot draw up a play for the life of him.............. and no that inbound touchdown pass in the cincy game doesnt count, even the announcer read that all the way.....
and end of game strategy is awful......
i will now go to the hospital to get my heart evaluated for a myocardial infarction.
I think you're nuts. The play at the end of regulation was perfect.
Seriously, are you Chuck Polzin from the 46-47 team?
Dude,
Can't it wait 10 minutes. Enjoy the fing win for a minute before you start bitching.
really?
Hey baby, just get it done.
we're one game away from TEN f***ing wins IN THE BIG EAST with this rag tag group.
46-47, time to take your Aricept.
Can everybody leave Chico's alone now?
This guy is a real hater.
You have to be nuts. You but it in your best player who can create and let him do what he does. If you did not know it was going to Jimmy at the end, you must not have been paying attention all season.
You are way off base here. When a play breaks down, sometimes the players screw up on execution, sometimes the D reads it and reacts - jeez.

But Buzz's plays always seem to break down in these situations. Now are the plays screwed up or are the players not executing the plays correctly?
It was ugly, ugly, ugly, but it was a big, big, win for this team. Two road wins out of this three game spread so far.
MU shot 34% with Butler shooting 4 for 14, DJO 2 for 12 from the field and Cubillian having his worst game of the year by far.
These are the games that when you play like crap and win, tell the psych of the team, can you imagine what we can do if we play well. Great for the players.
OP has no clue what he's talking about.

Chico I have to admit you are growing on me. LOL that is priceless
You realize those aren't the only two options, right? There is another team on the court, and what they do has just as much of an effect on end of game situations as anything Buzz can draw up or the players can execute.
Please drink a giant can of prune juice. Buzz showed tonight he was in total control of the game, clock, and situations. I thought he coached one hell of a game in a very difficult venue against an obviously fired up St. John's team.
If you want to see a bad game coach in action, watch the tanned dude vs. UW tomorrow.

Don't you know, it's really me posing as the 1946-47 captain so I can get my Buzz hate on.
But I will say this, that was an UGLY last 10 minutes. Missed free throws, missed layups by both teams, an OT game that finishes in the low 60's....damn, I thought I was watching Big Ten hoops for a second. ;D
In some ways I get what the captain is saying, not exactly the highest percentage shots at the end of the game. And for the record, with 25 seconds left I would NOT have intentionally fouled up by 3 points because of the time situation. It sucks the kid hit the 3 pointer, but I think Buzz played that correctly
(does that comment belittle Buzz?)

I'd love for you to queue up a list of break downs in these situations. I seem to remember tonight, and not much else other than the Jimmy leaner-jumper on UConn to win the game. Most all of our close losses have been due to the other team having the last shot and making it, not us having the last shot and missing.

If he manages to get the UW-IU game to come down to an end of game situation, it will be one of the coaching miracles of the century.

This Buzz bashing (topic) makes me sick. the only thing i didn't agree with ALL GAME was waiting until the shot clock was @ 8 to call a timeout. that's it.
I love the ball in jimmys hands, and obviously they were lockin up hayward.
I honestly just like the fact that you know Buzz has about 5 plays drawn up on that sheet of paper for every little situation that arises.
Butler is a better creator with the basketball in his hands than Hayward. He's a perfect option at the end of the game...plus he's a better FT shooter than DJO, who is the other guy I'd normally want with the ball.

LOL, I don't know who Chuck Polzin is, but this is hilarious.

Still wouldn't surprise me at all. IU has a great homecourt advantage and has pushed some good teams there both this year and last year.
i get way too emotional but i go back to that failure to foul for the last two games that nearly got us in trouble.
back when i played in 1946 there was no three point line so we did not inquire about such game scenarios.

That would make Mr. Polzin the elder statesman of the board and would be around 80 years old.
Congrats Mr. Polzin on making it that far in life, especially when you get so emotional during gametime.
.
Mr. Polzin - where do you live now? Great win to really keep us in the picture....

This dude is jerking our collective penis. There are no 86 year-olds on these stupid internet forums, especially at 10 p.m.
I think this cat may actually be Crean or Joanie.

This is me back when I could play a bit. Didn't score much but rebounded before those stats were kept. And yes a marquette engineer old timer knows how to operate a computer.
I could out-rebound anyone if I got to do it off a desk...
I respect your opinion then Mr. Polzin. His end game plays aren't always the best but he gets the most effort out of his guys and that's priority #1 in my book.

Love the action pose picture, like to see a before and after photo now.
lets keep this road winning streak going
I think Buzz is a great game coach and I've stated my love for him many times, but the last minute in regulation WAS pretty poor.....used all of the clock in MU's 2nd to last possession leaving only a 2 second difference between shot and game clocks for St. Johns......should've taken the shot sooner to give us a definite last possession with time......after using all the clock and leaving the ball to St. John's with 37, he should've used his foul to give and then strongly considered fouling them again to put them in the 1 and 1.........calling the timeout with 8 seconds left little room for error.
CLASSIC
9-6 in the BE.
OP should be banned for a week.
What are some plays that you would suggest Buzz run? DJO and Hayward were running off of screens and Jimmy made a move. It's as good as anything else.

Definitely possible....that's why I asked the question.
More than likely he's this Charles Polzin of Marquette

And we didn't become the Warriors until the 1950s after the Braves moved to Milwaukee. I guess we were the Hilltoppers in 46-47.

Uncanny investigative work by mr bailbonds
I will just say this... we barely score coming out of timeouts or dead balls. I'm having a tough time distinguishing if players aren't executing, the defense is just forcing them to change it on the fly, Buzz didn't draw anything up really, etc.
Regardless, I just wish we could score more consistently in these situations.
