Title: Anthony Mason Sr.
Post by: The Pickle on February 24, 2010, 08:34:41 PM
Who looks worse now?  Him or Charles Barkley?  Oh my lord, talk about letting yourself go...

Mason was always big.  Barkley is definitely worse.

I remember seeing Mason at the BC a few years ago and he was huge! Barkley's got to be in better shape than Mason (not that that's exactly a big accomplishment)

Mason wasn't big in his early days with the Nets, Warriors and Knicks.  He started getting big with the Hornets, and was a blob by the time he got to the Bucks.

Compared to their playing days, Mason is much worse than Barkley. He looks like a complete pig. At least Barkley, although always overweight, makes an effort to look decent.

By the way, Mason Jr.'s mother looked like she wanted no part of being in a photo with senior.

Also, was he using two bluetooth's?

I don't understand the "Mason was always big" comment when comparing him to Barkley, who was known his entire career for his girth. Take a look at his photos from Auburn. He was so fat that Knight left him off the Olympic team.

He was so fat that Knight left him off the Olympic team.

His size was not the reason Coach Knight cut the Round Mound of Rebound; it was his total lack of *any* understanding as to how to play team basketball.  I attended every single game in that camp and Barkley was amazing -- in his complete cluelessness.  One half he would shoot nearly every time he touched the ball, forcing shots, etc.  Then the next half he would basically refuse to shoot; instead, apparently trying to show the coaches he knew how to pass, he would fail to attack the basket or take wide open shots.  One thing he did do consistently was play half-hearted defense -- a cardinal sin in the eyes and mind of Coach Knight.  He was, in his own word, TERRBL.

Like to see you say that to his face...although the lawsuit would probably pay.

Hasn't he said since then something to the effect of "I was pissed at the time, but now I know what he cut me?"

I vividly remember Sr. at MU a couple years ago (had the bluetooth in the whole game there as well) sitting behind the bench a couple rows up and quite literally DOMINATING not one but two chairs.  Also had some pretty choice words for some of the students.
