Michigan State has been very inconsistent as of late. I wouldn't mind playing them but we'll see how they are playing towards the end of the season...

We picked a very good year to be a slightly above average team. The ACC is bad, the Pac Ten is horrific, the Big East is not as good.
CBS proved how stupid they are yet again, we are separating ourselves from the pack yet we are the second to last team into the tourney? No other bracket has us that low, and no other bracket would dream of a matchup with michigan state. Palm is a moron.

They may be playing inconsistent right now, but even if they fail to win the Big 10 Regular Season crown, which I think will be determined Sunday in West Lafayette, a Tom Izzo coached team is not a team you want to see come tourney time.
especially when MSU has 15 times the size that we do

+1000000...I have more respect for him as a tourney coach than any other coach in the nation.
I would rather play almost anybody than MSU in March.
In versus out projections are fairly accurate (although its still early). Specific seeds are are pretty speculative at this point in the season. To be concerned about a specific matchup projection right now is crazy.
I thought the committee doesn't like to repeat recent NCAA matchups?

I agree, if any coach gets their team ready in March its Izzo
Its not just Izzo being a great coach. They would punish us down low. Like literally bend us over and stick it in type of punishment. It would not be pretty.
graphic
Michigan State is probably one of the last teams i would want to play in the first round. Izzo is an unbelievable coach and their bigs would dominate us.
Agree with most here wanting to avoid Mich State. They have the two things we want most to AVOID:
good defense and multiple bigs
Would rather face the #1 offensive team in the country with an average defense and one or fewer good bigs
our best bet would be to play a team that plays mostly man to man defense and counts on a good shooter or 2 that plays guard. We have done great all year in shutting down the star player or 2, for example south florida's jones, and with the man defense we have a better shot at getting mismatches and driving to the basket. I would like to see us play a mid major that gets a high rank because of their small amount of losses and not much experience with teams that are so quick like marquette.
March 17, 2006. #11 George Mason beats #6 Michigan State 75-65 in the first round of the NCAA Tourney.
We all know what George Mason went on to do...I'm just sayin...
Last time we played MSU, in the dance, and they crushed us was abysmal. We scored 8 points in the first half---8 frickin points in a half--of the dance. Truly an all time low!

And I think that proves the point that you have to have a dang good team to beat MSU in the tourney.

Also pretty gross when the big from MSU broke his wrist.

Back then, with the second most successful coach in school history driving the bus, we had a habit of crapping our pants in March.
"The ACC is bad, the Pac Ten is horrific, the Big East is not as good."
According to Pomeroy the ACC is the best conference this year. Big East is 2nd best in the RPI and 3rd in the Pomeroy so its still good.
Pac 10 is indeed horrid.
It could be much worse....we could be battling it out for 12th place in the BE like all the experts and coaches predicted.
Pomeroy has an interesting take on the NCAA selection process. By his reasoning we wouldn't be on the bubble. We would be in fairly easily.

He didn't break his wrist, he dislocated his elbow...
