Title: The significance of 1966
Post by: 77ncaachamps on February 21, 2010, 12:50:01 AM
Al McGuire just completed his second year at MU with a 14-12 record.

That was the last time Indiana, North Carolina, or UCLA did NOT appear in the NCAAs
(Though at that time, it was the conference champs that would go on.)

So Buzz projects to be better than Al?   I'd take that.

Yep, the Packers will Super Bowl I and Texas Western defeats Kentucky for the NCAA basketball championship. Peggy Fleming wins the Olympic gold in figure skating and Jack Nicklaus wins the Masters. Gas was 32 cents/gallon and The Sound of Music won best picture.

Now what?

No Super Bowl was played in 1966.  Green Bay won the "NFL-AFL World Championship" but that was played in January 1967.
