Arggh. Disappointing to be sure. Probably need to win 2 of the 3 on the road coming up plus the 2 home games.
Done for unless we win out. Can't lose a game like this on your home court this late in the season while near the bubble.
I agree we are out now. Oddly enough we have a better SOS and RPI than Illinois, but they have an 80% chance of going to the Dance.
I don't think we have to win out, but tonight was a tremendous opportunity lost. This is where the DePaul game hurts so bad.
Pretty much nothing went our way - there was going to be one of these, but if it's at home you have to find a way to win it. Turnovers were out of hand. Couldn't hit a shot. That impressive ball movement we had seen was nowhere to be found. As far as individuals, Lazar had an off night and wasn't able to play as part of the offense, Acker couldn't hit a shot and seemed to be thrown off by the early fouls, and DJO was far too careless with the ball. The officials were unbelievably bad and terribly inconsistent.
Agree, it's going to take 4-1. The quality of the resume just isn't there with a 10-8 finish to get a bid without reaching the finals of the BET.
The only bubble we're going to be a part of playing like this, is the kind you make yourself in the bathtub.

Baloney. with 9 games to go people were hoping for 7-2 and that would get us in. Plenty of room for us to get in and I'd say that right now we are still in.

Yep. But, lets be honest. Our resume is pretty thin. The only real good win is Georgetown. Tonight was huge. We just have no answer for the bigs and we were just slaughtered inside.

Or blowing them while watching other teams get selected on Sunday.
Did the officials have anything to do with this? I think not. We played poorly - didn't deserve to win. The fact that Pitt tried to give it to us at the end only made it more frustrating.

I don't disagree with you at all, been saying that for a long time (and bashed for not being on the bandwagon). Sigh.
The UCONN win doesn't look that good unless they can get going. The G'Town is nice but that's about it. The big thing going for us is the close losses. I don't know if that does it.
What worries me is that we play 3 straight road games against teams BELOW us, but we could easily lose all three. We could also win all three. I think we must win 2 of 3. I wish Cincy wasn't the first one.
I might be naive but WTF people...so dramatic. This wasn't a gimme game by any means. Sucks to lose at home, sucks to lose one that we had a shot at but it's not the end all be all loss. Back on the bubble...were we OFF the bubble? We had an off night. Pitt was the better team. Agree this game highlights our weakness without a true big but we've won games against bigger teams.
There are still games to be played. I can't believe the mood swings on this board. So dramatic.
By the way, what a difference a year makes. Can anyone imagine saying "uh oh, Acker is in foul trouble" at this time last year? I love that guy, he has really stepped up.
+1 that's just how this board rolls. right now it's a swan dive to concrete. 24 hours ago it was a roman triumph parade.
Late game turnovers, lack of 3 point shooting, and the inability to stop their finside game, were the main reasons for the loss. We still have a decent shot a the tourney, a 10-8 record with a win in the first round of the big east tournament probably gets us in. That means, if we take 2 out of 3 in the next road stretch, then beat either louisville or ND at home, we have a chance. Tonight was just a poor performance overall. we didnt show up to play. I know its reduntant, but.... you live by the 3, you die by the 3.

I don't see any way MU gets in if they lose two more games. And, imo, they have to beat Louisville.

Agree. I can see all the "snubbed" whining now, but 10-8 will not do it, probably not without 2+ wins in the BET. We may be a good enough team, but our resume would not convince anybody we belong who isn't wearing blue and gold glasses.
