For those of you watching ESPN, #2 Kentucky and Mississippi State are having an incredible game. Neither team has had more than a 4 point lead I believe.
Mississippi State is up 1 with 5 to go.
MSU's up 2 with 2:00 left. I like seeing UK lose as much as the next person but with Mississippi State currently listed in the first four out, I'd rather Kentucky not lose to them. Granted, if we just keep winning, everything will be fine.
Tied up 67-67 with 30 sec left
it wouldn't surprise me if a 16 dropped a 1 seed this year. If Marquette gets in the tournament, I think i could keep a straight face putting them into the final four if I wanted to in my bracket no matter who is in their bracket. This march is going to be a free for all like we haven't seen in a long time in college basketball.
Side note: I have never seen worse shot selection in a game this year than in the miss. state kentucky game on right now.
Kentucky was down 7 with 2:30 to go. Mississippi State hasn't scored since.
I have never seen a worse combined shot selection in one game this year than in this game so far.
Overtime.
for no reason. It was college basketball relevant, had no profanity, whats up with that?

Ahem....we have the magical powers of merging around here. Look around before complaining :)
There were 3 separate topics about the UK game, so I consolidated.

Something that is never happened in the history of CBB wouldn't surprise you? Sister mary of the poor of North Dakota state beating, UK, 'Cuse, 'Nova or Kansas wouldn't surprise you? Really?

If there was ever a year for this to happen, it's this year.

I will gladly take all #1's -15 points. Today.

I'm not predicting a 16 beating a 1. I'm just saying that this is one of the weakest years in college bball I can remember, and that once the tournament starts, can anyone say a team is a lock for the final 4? last year there were a bunch of jacked teams, this year not so much.
The refs aren't doing so hot this game. That was all ball, and miss state got a crappy charge call a little while back against them.
And now a missed goaltending call. Huge!
Miss State is on the bubble. (Currently on Lunardi's first four out)
Can't believe what I am about to say. But let's go UK.

Horrible officiating... The blocking foul that should have gone down as a charge on patterson, two absolutely abhorent foul calls on the dude guarding wall, and the missed goaltend... what a horrible sequence of calls to hand Kentucky a win. What a joke.
Here comes the projectiles.
MSU got jobbed and robbed.
Too bad for them.
Great for us. :)
A bottle was thrown on the court and nearly hit a ref. The splatter actually did. It took a few minutes to cleanup.

Their own stupid shot selection killed them more than anything.

10-35 from 3P.
and 27-70 overall
Their offense was basically give to this guy or that guy and let him make a play. And according to Jimmy Dykes, I think, that was their play at the end of regulation.
On a somewhat related note(and all opinion)... John Wall and Demarcus Cousins don't belong in college basketball, and I will be glad when they are not.

So half of their shots were from 3 point range? Man...
The other problem with their 3 point shooting was that there was very little inside/out movement of the ball (PAINT TOUCHES!!) that would get them better shots. They just came down and fired away.

and fired away from DEEEP. I am no expert but I am guessing a shot from 5-7 feet behind the arc will be there later in the shot clock, no reason to chuck it up there at :31. This game really was over when Varnado fouled out. MSU had no one who could get a rebound against Cousins, Patterson, or Orton.
UK is a horrible FT shooting team and that could be their down fall come march. Also, Wall can't shoot from the outside!
I don't know what they were yesterday, but Miss St is a few places behind MU in RPI this morning. MSU is one of the bubble teams I was a bit worried about in a "committee side-by-side" scenario with MU. 5-5 against top 100 (vs. MU's 4-6), decent SOS number, worst loss is Rider (first game of the season), but no real signature wins. Last night was the sig-win they needed to trump MU's resume, but now with only Tennessee as the only ranked team remaining on their schedule, I think MU has the inside track against MSU.
Of course, hopefully none of this will matter. MU should be a lock after a W tomorrow night.
