I noticed more than a few posters have said there will be complaints when we are in the draw against a higher seeded team (that higher seed will complain we were matched with them).
Here is an example. Lunardi's latest bracket has us playing Wake Forest. About 95% of the W.F. fans are not happy...

Appears to me most of the complaints were about the seed not the opponent.

Yes the majority of complaints about seed but there are at least five posts on not wanting to play Marquette. There are multiple pages to the link.
Agree, most of their frustration at this is directed at Lunardi and the seed. I like how easily some fans dismiss Lunardi's projections b/c he is an "idiot", etc. Not saying I agree, or can agree with every projection, or know too much about the system, but when this is pretty much his job for the most prominent U.S. sports media outlet, his influence cannot be denied.
I seem to remember Lunardi, along with other projections, doing a pretty good job on how the seeds and placings shape out. Of course they can never get it right, but they are never out of bounds on their guesses.
BTW, one guy in that thread seems to think that our NC State loss is indicative of how good we are/how well they will matchup against us..."Marquette lost at home to NCST. I'll take my chances with them. They're also about to go on a bumby ride to close the season."
I always thought Lunardi's reputation was that he was very good at picking which teams will be in and out, but as far as the seedings and matchups he wasn't that great. Granted there are so many variations as far as matchups and stuff I don't think anyone could be expected to come super close.

The bracket project matrix has us as a 12 as well right now.
Aren't we a typical 12 seed right now (minus the mid major status that seems to creep into the 12 seeds)? Coming on late in the season, getting hot and winning games? We can beat anyone with our 3-pt shooting, I'd be scared to play us too. A 12 seed almost always pulls an "upset" every year.
As a sidebar, Temple, BYU, WF, and Tennesee are listed as 5 seeds on the matrix. As an MU fan, how'd you like a matchup vs BYU or Temple in the first round?

Or Tennessee?
As I read the Wake Scout board, I saw at least 5 people comment about not wanting MU. If I was at another school, it would scare me to draw MU as a 12 seed for sure. We would be far and away the most dangerouse 12 seed in Lunardi's bracket. A team like MU that shoots it 43% from the 3 and is 6th in the nation in Turnover margin - is flat out dangerous on any given nite. By this point in the season, shooting 42-43% from the 3 is not a fluke..it is who we are, and that makes us very dangerous.

That would probably be one of the best ways for the Maymon issue to come full circle. I think a 12 seed would be great. I'm rooting for something especially in the 11-12 range, possibly 10. I just hope we don't end up with an 8 or 9. Although at the start of the year being in the discussion for a seed would have made me happy.

If we get in and are drawn against Temple, BYU, or Wake, Bruce Pearl will claim Marquette is scared to play him.
Nothing is guaranteed, especially since our margin is less than zero, or something like that. But I am not afraid of any team we are likely to play in the first round. If we can avoid an 7-10 seed, I'm not afraid of the second round either. With who we have played, and played close, the only teams I am really afraid of are Kansas and Kentucky. Maybe Sparty. Anybody else, it should be a helluva game.
I wouldn't want to play us. Of course, I'm only one man.

You just seem like more.
You would be a Nightmare to play
Based on Lunardi's "S-curve" it looks like we moved up 4 spots since last week. (Top team in the last 4 in, versus first team out last week."
*Just WIN baby!
