Title: Upset City Today in Beast
Post by: dwaderoy2004 on February 14, 2010, 05:09:32 PM
drops them into a virtual tie with us.  If we beat Pitt and win 5/6 we should finish 4th.

Would like to see Georgetown roll... but I also think that quality wins by the bottom half of the league will only add more credibility to our resume if we finish with a strong BE record.

I don't know how to feel about it.  I posted earlier last week I wanted to see the top half teams beat teams close to us in the standings but with us at 7-5 and GU, WV, and Pitt only a game ahead of us, I think I am rethinking my position.  To me, there is no way we are catching Villanova or Syracuse and we don't play either of them the rest of the year.  Villanova plays Pitt Thursday...Go Wildcats!  Syracuse plays GU on Thursday...Go Orange!  If we win Thursday and both GU and PITT lose, we would tied for 4th at 8-5 with Pitt and GU just behind at 8-6. (This is assuming WV beats Providence on Wednesday).  Looking at remaining schedules, I would argue our toughest games are at home, including our last 2 of the season vs. ND and Louisville.  Meanwhile, WV plays GU and 'Nova their last 2 games, GU has 'Cuse and WV, and Pitt has us and Villanova with what should be a "cush" final 3 games against SJU, Rutgers, and Providence.  This season has already been crazy so I don't expect all these games to go the way, theoretically, they should go based on records but I think you have to like our chances. All this typing is pretty much a moot point.  Bottom line, nothing matters unless we win...

As if I didn't type enough already, what's everyone's feeling on how many BE tournament games we need to win?  Of course, that will depend on our regular season record but let's say we are at 20-10 going 4-2 the rest of the way.  Can we bow out early and still make it in?  I would say we need to win our first round game for sure...

Pitt plays us Thursday, not Nova.

Right on.  I knew I shouldn't have tried to lay that all out at once.  I meant to write Pitt plays Villanova Sunday.  In which case, you can pretty much disregard that whole rant...

Also Diper, not to be a jerk, but did you mean for your name to be "Diper" or "Diaper"?  The only definition of Diper I could find....

All close, exciting games...

Lville over Cuse at Carrier Dome
Rutgers over Gtown at RAC
And now, St. Johns over ND at Joyce Center

It would break my heart to see Brey fired.  I am still recovering from the loss of Charlie.

in that scenario, i would say zero.  11-7 in the Big East is enough to get in.

While I CANT STAND anything that is Notre Dame...I really like Mikey Brey. I like the way he coaches and can't help but love all the stuff he is involved in off the court.

That being said...I won't feel bad when ND comes into the BC and we beat them by 16. (I called the 11 pt win against USF so I'm riding the momentum).

If MU finishes 4-2, which will translate into 11-7 in the Big East and 20-10 overall, they do not need to win 1 game in the Big East tourney.  They'll be in on the above alone.

Harrangody didn't play yesterday and they lost by 1 to St. John's.

If you watched the NBA Horse competition, Charles Barkley.

I didn't see that, but I saw the new Taco Bell commercial...  Sir Charles needs to put down the burritos.

Hopefully not long.  After we beat their a** I don't want them making excuses.  I hope Lazar dominates that goofy b*****d.
