Title: Even More Sour About Depaul
Post by: MarquetteNation on February 14, 2010, 08:47:18 AM
It hurts to think about, but we could have been a in a tie for third place in the league had we taken care of business.

Maybe that sourness only hints at the sourness our guys tasted, and is why they've reeled off 5 straight.  (Not to say I wasn't thinking the same thing though.)

Why just the Depaul game?

Why not get as upset that we could not stop Reynolds in the final seconds to beat 'Nova at home?  Or the WVU loss in the final seconds.

Win either of these games instead as we probably be ranked

Agreed.  The WVU loss is the most painful.  A win there has us ranked and definitely in the tournament.  Oh well, maybe we will get another shot at them in the BE tournament.

I was thinking about us blowing that 5 point lead at WV this past Friday night as they blew a 5 point lead at Pitt in only 34 seconds.  At least it took us 50 seconds!  ;D  (Too bad Karma couldn't have us benefit and not Pitt.)

While the DePaul loss hurts, it's time to move forward.  It was a last second well defended shot that went in and we were playing on their home court.

We are a team that is in a rebuilding year and we have two bad losses to NC State and one to a rival (it sounds better if we call it that) in DePaul.  At least they are ACC and Big East teams.  I know we argued about it a little on the board, but the Catholic school thing and the WI/IL thing will keep DePaul a rival.  Records go out the window a little bit and DePaul is not as big of a loss for that reason.

What was really painful was having to watch that goober in buckskins whoop it up at the end. He's the hillbilly who shoots off the musket. He has a little boy who is also wrapped from head to toe in buckskins. Pathetic.

IF we won the DePaul game...

IF DePaul could have upset Cuse...

IF...IF...IF...

Can't do it. You're going to drive yourself crazy. And who wants that after the close early conference season losses!

C'mon people. That DePaul game seems like it was about 3 months ago right now to me.

And if we had won all the games that we lost, we would be undefeated and ranked #1.

No doubt those losses were tough and it's hard to look back on them...so don't.  Like someone said earlier, it will drive you crazy.  Everyone has the same chance come tournament time, records and close losses don't mean anything.  Win and we're in...

I take that back, close losses do mean something.  They mean we are far more prepared to handle close game situations than any team we play, assuming we learned from our mistakes in the ones we lost...
