With MU, Georgetown, Pitt, WVU, and UL all pretty much locks, I'm interested in predictions on Tournament fate for the following teams...
Villanova - In
Syracuse - Need a relatively upset free conference tournament season, but I think they'll make it
Notre Dame - In
Providence - Out
I suppose Uconn and/or DePaul still have hopes, but they are obviously faint.
That would be 8 teams, but certainly should be no fewer than 7.
I don't think we'll get seven. Pitt, Gtown, MU and West Viriginia are in (WVU only because of their win over UCLA). Villanova is borderline, Louisville probably needs to beat us. We could get as few as five. Notre Dame's RPI is high and they probably need to beat us, too.

You sound a bit like the anti-Vitale with his typical 128 team field. Somebody has to get in. If ND is in trouble because of their RPI, Villanova is a lock (13). Louisville is safe so long as they don't completely tank.
I don't think any 8-8 BE teams get in this year; the conference just isn't as strong as in years past.
If Nova is 8-8 with a win in the tournament they get in. Their computer numbers are too good not too.
Ecompt, the problem with that theory is that the teams have to come from somewhere. The BEast will have at least 6, 7 being more likely 8 being a stretch. I think MU, Pitt, Georgetown, Nova, ND, and Louisville are in. I also think UConn or Syracuse will make a deep run in the conference tourney to get attention. If we only give 6 or fewer teams....where do the rest come from to fill the field.....Big 10 is projected at 4, ACC at 9, SEC at 6 to 8. There is no way they will leave a 7 BEast team out to bring in a 4th MVC team. I think there is a lot of parity in NCAA basketball this year.
I know and I understand your point. I just think if the SEC and ACC get eight teams each, the Big Ten gets 4, the Pac-10 gets 6, the MVC gets 3 and the Big 12 gets at least 5, that's 34 before you get to the Big East. I'd love to see seven from the BE get in; I just don't know if it's do-able.
I'm not marking down MU as a lock just yet. As long as we win one of the last 4 We'll be fine. But, Villanova, Louisville, ND, and Pitt and not exactly pushovers. I'm not concerned just yet, but if we lose the next two at home, It will be panic time.
agree. A total collapse and the NCAA may turn their back on us. I think Saturday will be huge.
Well, we have 4+1 games left. If the team plays like it did vs GTown and Depaul, we could conceivably lose all of them. If it plays like we did @Pitt, @UL, we could go 5-0.
Guesses:
0-5 and we're NIT. 8-8 in BE
1-4 - 10 seed?
2-3 - 9
3-2 - 6
4-1 - 2-3 closer to 3
5-0 - 2-3 closer to 2 (couldn't be 5-0, of course, as that'd mean we get another BET game.)
Hmm, for grins and chuckles:
7-0, win the BET. #1 seed?? At 28-6, it'd be possible.
