Title: Scott Merritt...
Post by: mosarsour on February 14, 2007, 12:24:56 PM
I was just looking at the NBA D League rosters and checking out the progress of former MU players and noticed that Scott Merritt no longer appears on the league roster.  Does anyone know anytihng about that?

Not sure how much more thorough he could get, maybe you didn't read the changed subject too?

Here's the only thing I found on the NBADL site:
"February 9: TULSA
Acquired G Will Conroy. Waived F Scott Merritt due to injury. " no more details.

Search for "Merritt" on this page...

I was actually thinking about Merritt the other day. It seems to me that James is becoming nearly as maligned as Scott was during his MU career.

Both put up solid numbers -- DJ moreso than SM -- but for some reason their poor games (and individual plays) seem to stand out more than the good ones. I don't know the reason for it. Perhaps it's because people can see the physical gifts and are frustrated that they couldn't (can't) seem to put it all together consistently?

Key difference

I cannot think of one game in his entire career where Scott Merritt took over and led the team down the stretch.  DJ has done that several times this year alone.

Merritt had the better mustache, though

Can we get a thread about all of the great MU mustaches?

Merritt's injury was apparently back related (more specifically a "mild disc herniation in the lumbar spine") and he actually was reported to have gone home to Milwaukee to rehab it (see: this article (http://www.tulsaworld.com/sportsStory.asp?ID=070209_Sp_B8_Sixer9739) and this article (http://www.tulsaworld.com/archivesearch/search/ArchiveArticle.asp?ArticleID=070201_Sp_B5_Injur18571)).

the last game he played in seems to have been his only game with the 66ers (since he joined the 66ers on 1/23 as a result of trade from the austin toros) which was a 12:32 outing against Sioux Falls on 1/26.  He recorded 0 points, 1 rebound, 1 steal, 2 blocked shots, 1 foul, and 1 turnover in that game (http://www.nba.com/dleague/games/20070126/SFLTUL/boxscore.html).

Is that thorough enough?

Merritt was a fine mustache competitor in college, but he could never make the pros like these fellas.

Not a phobia, since a phobia means an irrational fear....and everyone should be afraid of clowns.  Mimes too, which are clowns with deep seeded emotional problems.

btw - I should note that my search turned up this tidbit of info:
QuoteThe longest dump ever verified was produced by an American, who produced a 'staggering turd' over a period of 2 hr 12 mins which was officially measured at 12 ft 2 in. The offender is banned from 134 washrooms in his state.

Fear the clowns and mimes...with beards.
