ESPN is reporting that he has connections to the new owner (Russian billionaire) and is interested in the job but would only be hired if Rod Thorn is replaced as President. They are saying that Thorn does not want to hire a college coach who has already failed in the NBA.
Shouldn't the president be fired based upon how poor they are to begin with

According to the NYPost, the interest isnt necessarily mutual.
Pitino is a nomad prima donna who has been tremendously over-rated as a coach.
They gave him a huge piece of the pie when he was with the Celtics and did he nothing.
Hope he goes to the NBA--good riddance.
My two geezer candidates to replace him at Louisville: Denny Crum(Louisville gave him the shaft--he must be in his 70's), or Bobby Knight.
Not sure how I would feel if he left. It would make playing them easier and take a top recruiter out of the area and conference, but it could hurt the BE's rep in the short term to lose him. The benefits probably easily outweigh the negatives. Tom Crean would probably not mind seeing Pitino out of his recruiting backyard.
Bad for Lou.
Bad for the Conference.
Good for Kentucky.
Good for Indiana.
Good for Kansas.
Good for UConn, Syracuse and a few other BE teams that often times go head-to-head in recruiting.
Wont happen. No one wants his baggage, especially in the NBA where it's nice to have a coach that doesnt make decisions players do. I think he'll leave the program in another year or two...but he can't go anywhere right now.
Are there any accomodating Italian resturants in Jersey?

Do they serve food at the BA DA BING ?
Cheat on your wife by banging a waitress and serve a multi-year contract with the Nets. Is that purgatory or hell?
This is nothing more than another ploy by Pitino to get what he wants; attention and a feeling of being appreciated and wanted. With Cal at Kentucky and all the top names flocking there, Pitino feels left out. The state of Kentucky is rolling out the red carpet everwhere Calipari goes and Pitino might as well be carrying his luggage. The university was trying to clean up its image after the diploma mill scandal and Pitino then makes a stupid mistake. Things are not good there. The state of KY is not big enough for Cal and Pitino.

Aren't they going to be in Brooklyn in 2011?
Doesn't look like it's happening.

There is no way he can get NBA players to run a press, right?
There have been rumors of this in Jersey for about two weeks.

This post is so laughable, I don't know where to start. Pitino is an excellent college coach. Look where he has gone, and how they performed before he got there and after he left. Last year, he won a ridiculously tough BE conference. And he does this without any recruiting issues.
And Denny Crum? Bobby Knight? If Pitino leaves, and I realize that he won't, Louisville isn't gonna replace him with a geezer coach. (There is a reason they got rid of Crum in the first place.)
Michael Ray Richardson is not coming through that door. Mike Gminski is not coming through that door.

Is he turning down the Nets because of 9/11?

With the way Crum and Knight finished their careers I have no idea why you would go down that road. Calling Patino over-rated is also a bit off. If he would have remained at Kentucky he would have set many impressive records.
CBS Sports is saying Rick had his people ask about the Nets job but he was turned down. Now he has to deny any interest in the job even though he practically begged for it.
