Mods -- you guys do a tremendous job with the Scoop, this community you've built is quite amazing
Have you ever considered setting up a PayPal tip jar? I can't imagine that you have complimentary access to the servers and software you need to run this site, not to mention the man hours. I'd guess that if you put up a tip jar you'd be able to at least off-set some of the costs associated with the site and perhaps even be able to invest in future infrastructure work.
This idea is working elsewhere -- the beat writer for the Nationals is asking for donations to send him to Spring Training....raising good coin to cover expenses.

I'd support this if you guys set it up.

You'd need to set up a PayPal Premier (https://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=xpt/Marketing/general/PayPalAccountTypes-outside) account since their Personal accounts don't allow you to accept credit cards.
From there it takes just a couple minutes to set up a ChipIn widget (http://www.chipin.com/) to drop on the website.
ChipIn doesn't charge any money. PayPal charges 3% of each transaction.
It's easy enough to set up (the most challenging part will be figuring out where you'd like the widget to be on the site). I could easily do it for you guys, but I prefer to keep the number of responsibilities on my plate at any given time to a minimum :)
Just the tip, just for a second, just to see how it feels
