Title: In the Drivers Seat...
Post by: PGsHeroes32 on February 07, 2010, 05:37:26 PM
as you all probably know we basically control our own destiny more than any other bubble team whether in our conference or not. 7 games left and 4 are at home and of the 4 key games against fellow bubble teams we are at home for 3 of them. Pitt isnt really close to the bubble, i dont feel Seton Hall is a bubble team and clearly St.Johns isnt. Point of this thread is even after all the close loses and the disappointing DePaul game that would have us sitting great we are still looking good. All the tough games are behind us and we get chances at some 2 for 1's coming up.(get a win and knock a bubble team down) So basically if we control our own destiny and go 5-2 we are a tourney team, 4-3 we may need to show up for the BE tourney. All this said, there is no need for threads about stats and rpi because its all moot. 5 wins and were in. Lets do it.

Come on lets get a little discussion going here. We are in a postion that we would have loved to be in if told at the beginning of the year. How do you guys think we are going to fair? Will we run the table at home? We are a very solid home team and if we are able to run the table at the Bradley Center then we really just need 1 of the 3 road wins. What does everybody think?

I would be very happy with a win this Saturday.

I agree S. Florida is a team not to overlook.  They have one of the best players in the Big East on their team, in Dominique Jones.

The most important game of the year is always the next one.  We NEED a win over USF - and they are a tough tough team.  I will have happy to have a W in the books Saturday nite.  Then we can discuss the next game.

Agreed 1 game at a time is the way to look at it. But being at home makes South Florida very beatable and really a must win. Notre Dame showed jones can be stopped and we got a good group of guys to shut him down. We play pretty good defense our only problem are big rebounding guys which is not Jones game. Right now its early but Pitt is losing to Robert Morris. I dont know what to think. It makes Pitt seem more beatable and a loss could move them on the bubble giving us a shot to pass them when we play them but if they keep losing like they are it takes away from us getting a quality win if we beat them.
