I think MU got a bit of a break (I'll take it) with the game scheduled at the time it was. Their crowd seemed to be comatose for most of the game until the end. Could be that the mics didn't pick it up, but they weren't very loud....perhaps due to the early start?
What was the crowd like there?
It sounded like they had robots doing some of the chants.
They have players on the Screen lead the chants, the fans there are not very into it. If you want to insult our student section look at PC's and you'll see something very funny
Their student section was only filled up at one end of the floor, and the other end was almost completely empty. Sure, it was an earlier start, but c'mon, like you can't start drinking at 9:30am or something. Also, I heard from a PC alum that this was parents' weekend...maybe they were on their better behavior for mom an dad.
It was Parents day and one PC poster stated that the kids sit with the parents many times and not in the student sections, which dilutes the enthusiasm a bit.
The chants near the end of the game sounded like they were in autotune.
Where Providence clearly is > Marquette is their band. Holy smokes, they were friggin rockin and doing cool things like putting pompoms under their hats as if the pompom streamers were their own hair, all while rocking sunglasses inside the arena!! The song selection was varied and impressive. I was blown away and will be searching for a Providence College pep band CD today.

I don't know how hardcore you could consider the Providence band considering on one closeup during the game they show'd one of the players clearly wearing a ND Irish baseball cap to hold his "intense" pom pon on his head.
They also have a music major...

Curses! Foiled by the dependence on teal
I think I took it too literally b/c we've been having this discussion on the pep band so much that I was watching PC's and couldn't believe that the kid had a ND hat on in the pep band.
by the way, the friar mascot is the scariest mascot i have ever seen. My daughter kept asking me why there was a ghost on tv.

when you catch glimpses of him on tv, he sort of looks like a gigantic klansman running around. :-[
I hear fan participation was down markedly from last year's game in Providence.
I'll admit the friar is kinda goofy looking. But I still think its cool that they have a mascot which has something to do with the tradition of the school. Providence is run by Dominicans (aka the "White Friars). Not unlike the Jumping Jesuits which everyone wanted for Marquette.

That's probably because they had already used all their time outs.
MU caught a break with the UCONN game being in Hartford as well. Their student section was half full.
Pakuni, +100.
Crowd was not really a factor until PC scored 6 quick points at the end. Place was very loud then but quickly was quieted. DDC was sold out.

Nice. Not what it looked like on TV.
I was at the game and indeed, the PC crowd was very subdued until the final minute when we almost blew it. Great game and great win! These guys were there too.

No wonder they have recruiting troubles.

Hopefully this was meant to be in teal because I don't know where you get the idea they have recruiting troubles because they have a pretty good class next year, and have 5 players above 6ft 8 which is something many MU fans long for. Although many of these "bigs" are very raw at least one is bound to develop. Bilal Dixon for example looked pretty good against us.

It was from a thread earlier in the year. And I probably should have put it in teal.
