I love how this schedule is set up -- anyone who's played sports has to. Every game against a team fighting for a 5th-12th place spot. Four (hopefully five) of these teams are dancing. The others are nit. Every win distances us from someone next to us in the standings. Today's win was critical, as it gave us a tie-breaker on Providence and moves us up one more rung.
Wins against the top teams (earlier in the season) were going to turn on an alignment of the stars. Wins against this stretch of equally-matched teams is going to depend mostly on consistency and heart, two things I don't doubt in this team one bit.
It's going to be a great ride either way.
I figure 5-2 down the stretch gets us into the Dance. That gaves us 20 wins overall and 10 in the Big East. No way the committee can ignore a double-digit-win team in the best conference in the country.

Again, you mean? The rest of our resume is better than Providence's was last year, but I don't think 10 BE wins is a lock by any means. (Although 5-2 down the strech would be 11-7 BE?)

That would give MU 11 BE wins to finish 11-7. In my opinion that makes MU a lock, unless they lose in the first round of the BE tourney (back on the bubble). 10 wins keeps us on the bubble with 2 wins in the conf tourney turning that into a lock
5-2 the rest of the way certainly gets us into the dance. Unfortunately, 5-2 the rest of the way is far from a given. I thought early on that 9-9 in the Big East (18-12 overall) would be good enough, but I was counting on a few of those wins to be over ranked teams. I think we have to beat Pitt, Louisville, Cincinnati, and Notre Dame to make the tournament as all of those programs have national notariety.
Does anyone think where we finish in the Big East standings will play a part? We could potentially finish fourth with a 11-7 record especially with tie breakers.
