He apparently thinks Jimmy Butler's name is Jimmy Butlah.
Our announcer ruins the games for me and my fiancee. The best part of this season is when he wasn't around for a couple games in a row.
I personally like whenever DJO scores, and the announcer says "Darius. Johnson. Odom." with a dramatic pause after each word. It has become a habit of mine to exaggerate that pause some.

Someone down there needs to act like they have a pulse, besides R.A. Smith.
Seriously? The game is ruined for you because the announcer shows excitement?
Personally I like it.

Wow - saying "Jimmy Butlah" with some excitement ruins the game for you - maybe you should stay home and watch TV instead... folks in our section love it...
I find it irritating, particularly when the first and last names are melded into one and a bunch of consonants go missing.
"Jiiiiimmaaaabuhhhhlaaaa!"
I love how throughout the game it progressively gets worse and worse.
Why does it bother you? It's fun to say and it doesn't hurt anything does it?
Maybe it's supposed to be read with a thick English accent?
"Jim-meh Boot-lah" "Dah-ree-us John-suhn Ehyo-dum"
That would DEFINITELY bring a much better vibe to the BC. Maybe have wine and cheese next to a fireplace while at the game as well?

Maybe he does. I don't. That is all.
I prefer the guy who does Lakers' games at the Staples Center with his deep monotone voice. Seriously. Schtick like the dude up in Detroit is just lame.
Why don't we just get the chick who makes the announcements on the CTA to read out everything in monotone? That would really pump up the energy level.
Everyone in my section hates it...that guy is a dweeb anyway...I also hate when he goes to the student section before the games and tries to rile them up....your a PA announcer dude.

I'm OK with JimmahhhButlllaahh, but I don't want it to turn into the freakfest of NBA PA announcers.
Ought to be: Jimmy (pause for silent "F#@%-ing") Butler!! ;D

As long as a kid doesn't do it (ala last year's NBA All-Star weekend).
This seems to be the latest non-basketball related thing to complain about after a win haha.

Preach. I'm with ya on this one, and have been banging that drum for awhile.
The PA guy sucks. I thought Bob Brainerd was far better the few games he filled in.
Who listens to the PA guy?
What about MauRRRRRRRRRRRRRRice Acker. The roll of the R in Maurice is ridiculous. I actually thought they fired that clown, when Brainerd was doing the games, Bob is far better, and more professional.
I can't believe people are complaining about this guy! I honestly like how he announces the names and the different terms he uses for violations. He brings a little bit of energy and something new to the game. I can't stand PA announcers that sound like they are strung real tight. He seems to be having fun and I get a kick out of it. Those who don't like it must be very "old school" or very politically correct on how they do things. Have a little fun. Don't let it bother you, GET INTO THE GAME AND SCREAM AND YELL. ROOT FOR YOUR SCHOOL. Too many people just sit on there hands at games.

Why don't you refrain from referring to women as chicks?
Mike Jakubowski is a stand up guy and a professor at MU (was in 05-06 idk about now).
He does events for the PBA also, I think he does a perfectly fine job as the PA announcer and probably knows more about the team than you guys complaining do.

Where do I start with this one... I assume your a student? Might wanna pass that memo for cheering on to your classmates. That is, if they haven't left early yet.
How is there any correlation between cheering and complaining on a message board? I can't stand the guy and I probably yell more than I should for being upstairs.

Cosign. Love the announcer. Love the way he says Jimmy Butlah. Or LA-zaaar.
Our PA announcer is a great guy. He also lives and breathes Marquette basketball. Find something better to complain about.

No, I'm not a student. Never went to college. My sister went to MU and was a B-Ball cheerleader in the mid 90's and I have had season tix with my fam ever since. I know I got a little off track but I seriously cant believe that some people come on this board to complain about the pa guy who I honestly think is probably one of the best in college and pro ball. I like when he says "The Rock belongs to Marquett", "Steps", and all the stuff he says. Very different and origional. I hate hearing announcers that say the same sh*t over and over with no enthusiasm at all.
Which public transportation do you use that a "chick" announces the stop? I only hear a dude, but that might be only the lines I use.

I go to basketball games to watch basketball games. I don't need a PA announcer getting all excited with some lame-ass phrases to make it worth my while.

I was gonna say the same thing... of course, I moved out east last August, so maybe the CTA fired the dude and replaced him with a chick.

That's what I don't get. If you go to watch the game why do you even care about the PA announcer?

The only reason that I care is because his voice makes my ears ring. I'm not an old guy and I spend a lot of times in loud bars/clubs. It's saying something (and it may just be the frequency of his voice and my own particularly physiology) that he's impossible for me to tune out. He literally makes my ears ring a couple times a game.
That coupled with the fact that he doesn't stop babbling distracts me from the game that I came to watch.
I really don't care what he's talking about or how much he talks, as long as he'd tone it down a notch (not in excitement, just volume so I could tune him out if I chose to).
Meh, it's just a personal preference. It just sucks that it's easier for me to watch a game on TV at a bar over something so silly.

Because he's annoying. He detracts from my enjoyment of the game.

Wow, you must be in one of those very few pockets where you can actually, with any semblance of clarity, understand what is actually coming out of the BC sound system.
