Title: Bracketology Reciprocity
Post by: Spaniel with a Short Tail on February 01, 2010, 08:20:12 PM
Both the men's & women's teams are First Four Out.

Maybe the women have another WNIT championship run in them.

why bother with a womens tournament. UCONN will not go down. they could go .500 in the mens division.

That's a silly comment.   They'd go .500 in the men's division if they played in the Southland conference with non-con games against all low-majors.....MAYBE

When I lived in Miami I played in a couple of scrimmages (guys vs girls) against the old WNBA team they had there (Miami Sol -- no longer exist).  The bottom line is this...a rag tag group of guys all of whom had played in HS (a couple had played in college) that had never played together before beat the crap out of them...wasn't even close.

The women were excellent fundamentally and weren't afraid of sticking their nose in and playing, but the size, speed and strength of the guys was way too much.

A well-coached, good boys HS team could compete against and probably beat UCONN"s women's team 9 of 10 times.

Not.

The best stat I saw was the UCONN womens win streak (that is probably around 60 now) has a margin of victory of over 30...

This isn't even basketball anymore.

Although the WNBA is FAR MORE fundamentally good for young players (both boys and girls) to watch than the NBA.

Actually couldn't agree more.  Sure it's not as athletic and not as exciting, but as far as pure basketball is concerned, the WNBA is a very educational league to watch.

With that logic, the NBA should sign a tv contract with Comedy Central.

It's a joke of a league, players get the star treatment more than any other league.

The season is too long, half the teams make the playoffs, the playoffs take months to finish, players are WAY overpaid, players dog half of their games (due to it being too long).

And that is only the tip of the iceberg when it comes to what is wrong with the NBA that makes it such a joke.

UConn has beaten every opponent it's faced by double digits since the start of the 2008-09 season.  That's insane.

There's lot of things wrong with the NBA, but watching the WNBA (and most women's sports) just isn't entertaining to me.  I'm all for women playing sports and I will support my daughters if they choose to play sports but I'm just not interested in watching subpar players play a subpar game.

Don't know if I would go so far as to say a well coached boys hs team would beat UCONN 9 out of 10 times, seems like a reach.  I don't see an Arrowhead HS or Madison East squad beating them; but then again, if they had Murf at the helm.......hmmm.........the possibilities

Are those two of the best teams in the country?

Maybe I should have been more specific.  I grew up in a town of 20k people in NE.  My HS team would more than likely have gotten beaten by UCONN's womens team.  What I was trying to say was that a top-tier boys HS team from probably any major metro area would have little problem with them.  I'm not from WI so I don't know anything about the teams you are referencing.

Town of 20k in Nebraska?  Fremont?  Columbus?  Hastings?
