@ Cleveland state. WVU 80- Clev St. 78. D. Butler game winning layup
vs. Marquette- WVU 63- MU 62. Well I think we all know what happened in this one
@ Notre Dame- ND 70- WVU 68. D Butler missed 3 pointer with 2 seconds left
vs. Louisville- WVU 78- Lville 75. D Butler made jumper with 17 seconds left to take a 76-75 lead. D Butler two made FTs to make the lead 78-75 with 5 seconds left.
3 out of 4 is pretty damn good. and 75% is pretty damn close to the 80% i talked about a few weeks...
And if any of you watched college game night last night, in the words of Doug Gottlieb..."Has anyone in the country made as many game clutch shots as Da'Sean Butler?"
Man do I love being right...as usual. It never does get old though
And the number of posters ignoring mikeDEANmeminger SKYROCKETS.
let me be the second to congratulate you. Must feel great to be close, not right (as you said 80%), but close.

Notice in your signature the quote by Buzz - Did he really say that?!! "I'm like a turtle, I remember everything?" Can you pass along where you heard that or when it is from. Think it is hilarious.

Congrats. You must live an awesome life that you actually get pleasure from crowing about something as stupid as this.
Here is your reward.
buzz said that last week in his radio show. I about fell out of my chair at work listening to it. I think u can still hear it at gomarquette.com
I'm not going to go back and check. because frankly, I think it's stupid to continue to argue this point. But I believe your comment was along the lines that the shot he took (a three pointer specifically) he hits 80% of the time. Your analysis above cites only one three pointer - the one against us. So your sample is ONE still.

was that a 3 against us? i thought his foot was on the line and it was only a 2.

Yeah, I guess you're right, but a lay up and clutch free throws and a "jump shot" don't seem to be the same degree of difficulty Meminger tries to argue above

actually it was a two pointer against us...which he is now 3 for 3 on. 0 for 1 on three pointers. so if we are only counting shots like the one against Marquette (two pointers) then he is actually 3 for 3 and 100%, much better than the 80%. Either way, I was and am right.

You said Butler hits that shot 80% of the time, and then post that he's 75%. Not that those other three situations were anything similar to the shot he hit against MU. I don't think anyone would argue that Butler will make 75% of his lay-ups, nor do I think anyone would argue that he's clutch at the end of the game. I would still call you an idiot, which you've proven by playing the "I told you so" game, because you feel he's more likely to hit a shot with his foot on the line in the closing seconds, then he is a free throw. If you still feel he can hit that shot 80% of the time, I guess we should expect to see teams fouling him while up one, as the odds are better with him at the line. You just joined my ignore list that now covers a whopping two people.
I guess we will see when he hits his next game winner to make it 4 out of 5, which would be....hmmm a smoooooooooth 80%.
Part of me thinks it would be kinda funny if the next one came in the Big East tournament against Marquette. I'd have a field day then with all you "idiots".
I can't believe I was a whole 5% off on my guesstimation. I'm a moron

It seems like other teams are having problems stopping him as well.
Mike Dean, how would you go about stopping Butler in these situations? I think that would make for a better prediction and ultimate "I told you so".
Well, yeah, you are, but not for the reason you cite.

Face gaurd him and not let him catch. Switch all screens they set for him and continue to face gaurd. If he does catch, get in his a$$ and not let him get you back-peddaling and off balance to he can rise up and shoot over you (aka Lazar Hayward). But at the point he does catch he is shooting 75% in the clutch, so there isn't much you can do. Just face gaurd best you can and make someone else beat you

I agree with you for the most part, but in the Cleveland State game, they pressured the ball handler and overplayed Butler to deny him the ball.
WVU was able to advance the ball away from Butler, who eventually cuts up the center of the court to receive a pass and makes the lay-up.
What's my point?
Well, he's not unstoppable, but he's a VERY good college player, and he has shown the ability to free himself for a good shot.

I can't blame Lazar for Butler making a long fade-away 2 pointer. He made a tough shot. He's a good player.

Man, do I love being right???? Are you serious?
After the game winner against us, you stated that he took a shot the "he makes 80% of the time." based on what? Above you give examples.
1st example was a lay-up. How does that support your premise that the shot with his foot on the three point line he "hits 80% of the time?"
So, until our game, we had a sample size of exactly zero.
Then, AFTER they played us, he missed a three pointer with three seconds left. Doesn't help your argument (since you made your comment following our game and prior to this one), but let's throw that in as a "similar shot" since it was further away than the shot against us.
Okay, then he hits a shot from about 10-12 feet out on the side to take the lead (again, after out game). NOT a shot as time expires 20+ feet away.
Talk about comparing apples and oranges.
You made a statement after our game with no basis for the statement other than your opinion. then to support your argument you choose a layup against a mid-major in a non-conference game, and then a missed three pointer AFTER your statement, and then a baseline shot with 17 seconds remaining, again after your statement.
Wow, just wow!
What was my point in saying that?? Was it that he was going to hit the exact same shot in the exact same situation 80% of the time?? NO!! Unless you are a complete moron, you understand basketball and that the same shot in the exact same situation never repeats itself.
But since almost all of you are morons that DON't understand basketball, you wouldn't know what I was talking about.
What I was talking about was a great player with ice in his veins is gonig to make clutch, go ahead shots abuot 80% of the time. So as some of the examples didn't take place until after I made this statement, that is how an argument works. As situations that come up that prove your point, you use them to develop your argument. I think its even more impressive that I actually stated he would make shots like that 80% of the time, and he actually makes them 75% of the time. That is pretty damn close to my statement, which is pretty damn impressive
But thats ok, I'll just continue to prove all ya'll wrong. Can't wait til Mr. Butler makes his next game winner. Like I said, there is no doubt I'll be throwing it in all your faces again.
Until then....

Actually chief, you said this...

And yes, as good a player as Butler is, he will hit that shot 8 of 10 times. or 80 of 100. or 80%. however you geniuses want to look at it. If the defense is going to give him an open look, he is going to knock it down.
You specifically stated that shot, not all game winners. But once again, retreat on your argument, call people names...And by the way captain, you need to take it down a notch and relax. This is a message board about 18 and 19 year old that put an orange ball through a hoop. If you do feel the need to belittle others to the point of calling people morons, idiots, then go do it on Scout...
WE ARE MARQUETTE
Your really on your knees for Butler
Actually I'm called a name every time I post something on here. Doesn't bother me, if it bothers you....well grow some balls.
Yup I did say that. In that same thread (which you clearly failed to read all of) I also said this...
"you're all ridiculous. no i didn't mean i think he shoots 80% from the field. In that situation with the game on the line, a player like Butler (or Kemba Walker, etc) are going to make the type of shot when little D is played on them 8 of 10 times. Great players make big plays. I understand percentages ok, thanks."
If you need to me to explain cause you can't understand...it says that they will make THAT TYPE OF SHOT. That does not mean that exact shot with that exact amount of time left on the clock. THAT TYPE OF SHOT would be anything similar, such as a 12 footer from the baseline with 17 seconds left to take the lead in a huge conference game.
Please get a clue before I need to prove you wrong again
