USF up 31 - 26 at half at home....USF withstood a 13-0 run by Pitt to tie it at 22 but closed it out up by 5 at half.
up 51-37 with 10 min left. in this league a road win is a tough, tough, thing to get. that's why we better win out at home and then try and steal 1 or 2 on the road. you can never count on a road win in the BEAST.
USF up 51-42 with 9 to play.
We should beat Pitt at home...there is not excuse not to

Pretty amazing the expectations people have of this team -considering it was a rebuilding year, and for how undersized, and limited in scholarship players it is...to where all of a sudden we have no excuse not to beat the 15th or something ranked team in the country.

Yep, if IU can beat them, certainly the Warriors can also.
I'm glad we are playing USF at home this year. If they get Gilchrist back, they are alot better than last year.
Pitt missing FT, USF making them.
Pitt is playing without Taylor.
Pitt was good enough to beat Syracuse at Syracuse they are certainly good enough to beat us.
ps. Both of these teams missed a bunch of free throws down the stretch(especially Pitt).....I thought only we did that?
USF wins 70-61
D. Jones with 37 of their 70 points
Jones is really good. Probably should have some consideration for all-Big East, no matter where his team ends up.

I seem to remember this being said around the time of their loss to IU but I can't even tell if it's sarcastic here.

Except that Pitt is also undersized, in a rebuilding mode, lacks depth, and was picked to finish in the bottom half of the Big East.

We should beat Pittsburgh. At MU, we should win this game. There is no sarcasm at all. Yes, they did lose to IU, but they also are not playing their best hoops right now. Recent losses to Seton Hall, Georgetown, and a lethargic performance at home against St. John's.
I feel better about us beating Pitt at home then I do Providence on the road

I feel better about Pitt at home than Cincy, St. John's and Seton Hall on the road too. Even before seeing Pitt today I was more concerned about the Louisville game than Pitt.

Please..."no excuse not to", don't you think that's a little strong?
No excuse not beating a cupcake at home. Losing to a good Big East team? I don't really consider that unacceptable.

Fair enough. Let's just say that MU seems to bring out it's best when there is a ranking next to the team. I see no reason why the guys won't be pumped and ready to go for the Pitt game. It's the other games against lesser opponents that scare the crap out of me, the ones on the road.

Have to agree with Chicos here. In order of confidence of wins of the remaining schedule I put:
1. DePaul (just jinxed us)
2. Pitt
3. USF
4. Notre Dame
Disagree - Depaul is a tough opponent and now Koshwal is back. He is a beast.

I agree, I'm actually nervous about this game. Can you imagine getting swept by DePaul??
I remember last year both games being relatively close, and we all know how talented MU was. Just win baby.

If we lose to DePaul at home we don't deserve to go anywhere. After the absolute bust of a game we had there, we better wipe the floor with them.

I'll agree with Wainwright gone they are playing better but let's remember this is a HORRIBLE shooting team. They are dead LAST in nearly every offensive category in the Big East. They shoot 60% from the LINE and 38% from the FIELD.
We need to ensure we don't get in another slow down game like we did in Chicago. If we score over 65, we win.
DePaul may be a poor shooting team, but Tracy Webster has them playing like junkyard dogs..they made Syracuse look real BAD yesterday..a lot worse than we looked against them.
Of course MU has no excuse to lose to Pitt at home when Indiana was able to beat Pitt...I hadn't thought about that...such a coincidence. Basically MU has no excuse to lose to anybody, considering how much talent was left after the Big 3 graduated. I mean MU had 3 players - Hayward, Acker and Cubiallan - to work with for this year.

Agreed. They are a terrible shooting team. Shot terrible against us as well, but we shot worse.
The thing that stuck out in that game is that we took only 41 shots...they took 52. Our efficiency was very poor that game and you could see it at the end of the first half that this is how it was going to be. I had to watch the game on DVR, but didn't see any adjustments at the half. Disappointing game all the way around which could be a season killer at the end. Let's hope not.
I realize they played Syracuse tough yesterday, but that was trap game for Syracuse. I agree with Ners that they will win more Big East games this year, but that still doesn't take away that they are the worst or 2nd worst team in this league. They have about 5 guaranteed losses ahead of them and likely 1 guaranteed win. They have 3 or 4 other games they have a probably a 50-50 chance to win.
It's funny, Ners says I hate Buzz and throws out things like you have to believe in the guy. So I go on and say MU will win against DePaul and believe in the team and Buzz, yet that's taken as a hit, too. Can't win for losing with some of these people Things must be slow in Texas these days...Ners, say hi to Jayne Peters. And yes, I wish Wade was fired from the Cowboys

No Chicos - I only called into question your comment that "There is no excuse for us to lose to Pitt at home." Let's not go changing the facts again...the above statement is a bit outlandish. Let's get real, 90% of MU fans did not think this year would be even close to as successful as it has been..especially not given the injuries and transfer. But, this team has been coached so well, they are getting everything out of their ability - to where they've been ultra-competitive all year long..and very easily could be 17-4, (WVU, Villanova 1 game FSU, and DePaul) and ranked around 10 in the country...and that NOBODY would have predicted.
All is well in Texas. About 50/50 here on Wade after this year, though mid-season it was 85-15 in favor of firing him. Hope your high state income tax, and failing economy in California eventually aren't such a burden. You shouldn't have to give 9% of your income to your State government. That's just robbery. But, I'm sure it is nice living on the ocean. We just take the 2hour 15 minute flight to Cancun to get our beach fix..and the beaches of Cancun and Playa Del Carmen are far greater than those in the O.C. Let me know if you ever want a job out here in Dallas.
I was very close to working for Cuban down in Deep Ellum (sp?) a number of years ago, but my wife was pregnant and didn't want to go down there. I'm pals with Greg McElroy of the Cowboys as well (his son is the starting QB at Alabama)...we go back a number of years. Great Dallas guy to know if you get a chance....so if you need a job down there, right back at you. ;D
I agree, this team is doing very well. I've been excited and pleased, this is why I don't get your point that I'm somehow against Buzz or against MU's success. You couldn't be further from the truth. My basketball IQ? That's just silly talk, but whatever. I thought my questions about the recruit were legit, but it's odd that when some people ask those questions then there is no issue, while others are questioned. Whatever.
And you did mention DePaul as well as Pitt...I'm not changing the facts at all. We sure as hell better beat DePaul and in my opinion, we should beat Pitt as well. You can't have it both ways. As well as this team is playing and coached, we should win both those games at home. It would be disappointing not to.
Peace

Nice to hear you have some ties to the Dallas-area, and yes, you are right about Deep Ellum. I assume you were going to work with Yahoo, on some level? Sounds like you have enough of a network here to get a job if needed - you really should get out of the oppressive economy of California. So much easier to raise a family and make a living here, and have enough or a lot left over to take nice vacations.
As for my comments about DePaul, I didn't paraphrase or quote anything you'd written in that post I made, they were more made in response to the Dano dude who posted above me. I'll take back the basketball IQ comment, but I do at times think there is some disingenuous-ness in some of your posts - and that they do have a degree of passive-agressiveness. Maybe I've read between the lines completely wrong, but everyone here knows you are a huge Tom Crean fan..and have been at best very, very slow or cautious to warm to Buzz...yet you do make a token comment here or there expressing that you like Buzz. Probably splitting hairs..but I'm just so far on the Buzz bandwagon - that I react a little too strong to anything I perceive as negative toward Buzz. Fair enough.
Peace.
