That is most definitely goal-tending.
Nonetheless we need to pick it up.
EDIT
Everything else Syracuse is doing, though, IS shutting it down, unfortunately.
that missed call was crucial
Yeah what is that comment? That coupled with the "For the win" with 3 minutes left in the DePaul game are two of the worst comments in my history of watching college basketball.
Boeheim is the whinest coach in college basketball
Oh, and Buzz needs a haircut.
Not sure why we are trying to match the inside game with them at this point. Our only chance is going to be the 3 ball.

Unfortunately for us, we aren't hitting anymore.
With 8 minutes left to go, Syracuse outscored us in the paint 48 to 14.
48.
to 14.
If any top big has ANY brains at all, he will go to Marquette.

I've been thinking that for 6 years now.
Not only was the ball coming down, I believe it was in the cylinder as well. I see it as two blown goal tending calls.
But the team should have responded to that better. They gave up what seemed like 10 or 12 straight points that cost us the game.

Too bad we're not top bigs ;D
That goaltend was literally one of the worst no calls I have ever seen in a basketball game. I mean, it was basically the definition of goaltending. On top of that, it really seemed to spark Cuse and took the wind out of MU's sails for the defining stretch of the game. If the call had been made, who knows what would have happened? In all likelihood, MU would have taken control of the game and lost on a last-second shot following several missed FTs.
Bottom line: Marquette got beat by a better team today. There's no shame in that. They went flat for far too long late in the first half and it carried over into the second half. Cuse was just too big and too strong. I actually felt bad for Lazar on D. He was so undersized that he didn't really have a chance against their beasts down low.
Going forward, MU has a good chance of winning 4 of their next 5 games (at UConn will be tough) which would get them back to .500 in BE play. You never know what can happen, but the fact remains that there are winnable games remaining so MU still has a shot at going dancing.

Then after the goal tend, they went on a run and Buzz did not call a TO as he has a habit of doing. I know it's been debated here before, but we SO needed to stop the momentum and the crowd.
As far as Lazar on D, you're right. I specifically remember one entry pass to one of their bigs where Zar had inside position but had his back to him and it was almost comical. he kind of ducked underneath while the guy went right over him like he wasn't there. just totally overmatched inside today.

But we had a guard-focused coach before Buzz...
I just hope things change under Buzz.
I like what I see in DJO and Butler. Buycks has potential to be a slasher/shooter.
Who knows what Maymon would've done here.
It's just unfortunate that the injury issues have plagued this team when Buzz took over: Fulce, Otule, Morrow, Mbao, Cadougan...
I know it's going to be a rough 2010-11 but it's going to be fun with
Vander, Cadougan, DJO, Butler and Jones!!!

As pointless as it is, its hard not to wonder what might have been.
