Title: seton hall louisville game ending
Post by: romey on January 21, 2010, 08:13:41 PM
Wow.   .7 second left and seton hall under the louisville basket to inbound down by two.  The man has the ball, and steps across the line (a la hayward) while the ref is counting off five seconds.  He stops, looks at the ref, as if to say "oops" and the ref continues to count off the five seconds.  the player inbounds to Hazel and he is fouled.  No end line violation.  Pitino argued, but no explanation was given.  i just happened to catch the ending on ESPN 360.

Seton Hall wins.

Think about the NIT this year.  Could be

Marquette
Louisville
North Carolina
UCLA (though it might be a miracle for them to make it)

I couldn't believe that ending either.  Seton Hall deserved to win, but wow!  No call?!
What the hell was that then?  A do over?

yeah, that was pretty messed up.    I know the kid got flustered but you've got to make that call as he walked straight over the end line with the ball.

Best part was when he was clearly over the line, and he had to know it, and ball faked to one of the guards before passing back to ref.  He played it real cool which probably helped him getting a no call.

I hope Loserville continues to lose these type of games. Pitino deserves it.
Carolina is struggling this year, but my guess is that they will get in the Big Dance with 17 wins, because hey: Its carolina, its Carolina.

The AP story on the game explains it like this:

QuoteSeton Hall had trouble getting the ball inbounds, but Hazell finally got it and was fouled with two tenths of a second to play.

Lazar could have used that ref last year

I caught that highlight before I left the house this morning too and couldn't believe it. Way more obvious than Lazar.

Now, that is an example of being unlucky.

That is an example of a horse sh*t job of officiating.  He gave him a "do" over. What crap. Plus Gonzales is a monster tool.  I dislike him as much as Pintino.

Wasn't there a whistle blown?  I thought I heard one after the 3 point shot was made.  That is why he was confused and that might be why they may have given him a do-over.

There may have been a whistle, but I couldn't tell for sure.  He still had both feet over the line.  Comical when it's not a MU game.

Sounds like an ending to a Marquette game...
