Just to try to soothe the blow of this DePaul loss...NcState dominated Duke...many posters here have said how NCState is the worst team in the ACC..and they destroyed Duke. We got beat on 2 fluke shots and our continued missed FT's..but didn't get destroyed...
They were probably the worst in the ACC last year. They're a decent team this year. The ACC is wide open. Pretty much has 9 or 10 decent teams, but nobody is really good.
That's awesome news. It will totally help us on Selection Sunday when we win the BET and they are handing out seeds to auto-bid teams.
Granted, it was at home, but I always thought it was interesting that some people labeled the NCST loss as a bad loss-especially with how topsy-turvy the ACC (and pretty much all of college basketball) has been this season.
That conference is as crazy as any this year...
Misery loves company.

And Xavier lost to Temple and Michigan to Wisconsin.
Please, don't try and justify losing to DePaul on 2 fluke shots.
WE LOST TO DEPAUL!!

They both lost to teams ranked in the top 25 most of the year, your point?

+1 - Thank you very much. Chicos is just a Buzz-hater..and any chance to bash Buzz/this team - he's going to take his shot. This loss opened the door as wide as it could be opened..and Chicos couldn't resist walking his lame-a$$ through that door.

Yes, I'm a Buzz Hater. ::)
Blah blah blah
The original post, at least to me, seemed to attempt to do one of two things
1) Marginalize our loss to one of the worst (if not the worst) BCS teams in the country and the worst Big East team by showing that Duke lost and got blown out by a squad we lost to AT HOME
and \ or
2) Marginalize our loss to one of the worst (if not the worst) BCS teams in the country and the worst Big East team by showing that we only lost by some fluke happenstance
My response was simply that for the "positive" feeling we get that NC State beat Duke, it goes away with another Michigan and Xavier loss.
I honestly don't know how that is Buzz hating, but if I said my kids didn't like their Shirley Temple the other night at Cheesecake Factory, somehow that would be turned into a Buzz Hating comment.
The fact of the matter is, you seemed to be trying to marginalize a MU loss by saying it was 2 fluke shots and missed free throws. I'm sorry, but what I saw this morning show it to be a loss based on a lot more things than what happened in the final 90 seconds. They were outplayed the entire game sans the open few minutes. This loss was more than just two fluke shots and missed free throws.
This was a game where one team had more talent and instead of stepping on their neck, let the much less talented team hang around, hang around, hang around. Then when it got close..........gaggaroo again. Very frustrating.

Sorry Dude - DePaul brought it last night..period...they had a good strategy, got us out of our game. The same thing we've done to Georgetown, WVU and Villanova to an extent. Hey, we were projected to be Number 12 in the 16 team Big East - the fact this team has competed its guts out, and been very, very competitive -raised everyone's expectations..to where now we are some terrible team, with horrendous coaching..cause we had a bad night against DePaul. And yes, 2 fluke three point shots at the end, combined with us missing free throws, ultimately were the reason we lost this game. DePaul played a great game last night.

Well, I think the result of a game is based on 40 minutes of play and all plays in totality, not based on 1 or 2 plays. Now, that doesn't mean plays at the end of the game aren't important or more important (more pressure, for example), but when we're up 20-8 with 7 minutes left in the first half, we need to close the door. Instead, we scored 30 points the next 23 minutes while giving up 43. Basically the last three quarters of that game, we got stomped. This, to a team that came closest to winning a Big East game by losing by 13 points.
We got up 20-8 and it looked to me like we decided it was cruise control time.....and it bit us in the ass.
Don't get me wrong (which you clearly have), I've been impressed as hell by this team in the first 5 games of the Big East and applauded them (though I think we blew the WVU game). They've been right there. I've said Buzz should be BE COY if he kept this up and took us to the NCAAs (why would a Buzz hater say this? :o).
But expectations or not, there is no excuse for losing this game. In fact, with the way this team has played in the first 5 games, it only goes that much further to show how shocking this loss was. I expected we might lose a game we should win like at Providence or at St. John's. Those are teams that might give us trouble on the road. Not DePaul, that's the difference. This was not a situation of raised expectations. This was a simple loss to a crappy team where we mailed it in the last 3/4's of the game.

Let me be the first to say how sorry I would be should your children (or any children for that matter) be disappointed with their Shirley Temples. I would totally understand that your anger and/or sadness over the matter should not in any way be construed as Buzz hating. I think I can speak for the rest of the board as well on this.

Half of DePauls shots hit only backboard, their offensive sets were awful. We played poorly and to a certain extent DePaul took advantage of it. DePaul brought what, it was a terrible game on both sides of the ball. Both teams should have lost. We weren't taken out of our game, we were out of our game the instant our guys found out we were playing DePaul..

All I can say is that DePaul played their A$$es off last night. They played really hard. I thought we played hard too. We actually looked tired out there..and we wouldn't be tired if we were only playing half a$$. Upsets happen..yes, it sucks...but it is part of sports. I think to completely discredit DePaul is a bit short-sighted. MU forced DePaul into those terrible shots where they failed to draw iron..due to us playing tough D. DePaul expolited their size advantage in the 2nd half..posting up Buycks and Cubiallan..using a tall player to defend DJO. We don't have a lot of length to compete with..I would not be surprised to see DePaul win a few more Big East games this year..and pull another upset.
...and UNC has almost the same record we do.
