I would have liked to see cagoudan play this year. But after losing to depaul, our shot at the NCAA is slim to none. It would make no sense for him to play this year anymore.

This was one of the game Buzz was referring to when he said JC can help us win 1 or 2 games. He should have played tonight.

I don't care if he's at full strength. You don't bring him back now when an NCAA bid is an impossibility.
Depends on what the kid wants to do. If he wants to be out of MU in four years and making $$ in Europe he may want to play.
I wouldn't be opposed to letting him get some experience this year.
If he really wants to play, then let him play as many minutes as his health allows to get the most experience for next year. If it's to actually try to win games to help our NIT seed by spelling Acker and Cubillan for 3 minutes, not worth it.
I agree, whatever Buzz, Junior, his parents and team decides. It was an embarassing loss, but there are still plenty of games to play and win this year. Hang in there with the team.
If Junior wants to play and Buzz believes he can help us, then let him play. 'uh oh, if I play like sh1t I may not see minutes' is a thought I don't mind having our current players dwelling upon.
What's the point of playing him? So we can get an NIT bid? Not worth risking his health.
How is he on free throws?
If he has been cleared and wants to play, play him. And if Buzz thinks we are playing for the NIT, then it is time to get EWill more minutes, too. Start building for next year. The best way to do it is get JC 100+and EWill 200+ minutes of court time the rest of the BEast season.

Buzz has done an admirable job of squeezing every last bit of talent out of his depleted line-up, but MU's hopes for an NCAA bid died an ugly death last night.
Before the upset, it might have been defensible to play JC in a quest to make the NCAA -- provided JC was willing to risk his health and sacrifice his red shirt -- but it makes no sense to do so now, even if JC wants to do so.
Buzz has a responsibility to balance risk/reward, taking into account the greater good of the team and the individual needs of his players.
Sit JC. Now is the time to develop EW in anticipation of what should be a better/less snake-bit season next year.

Lots of Top 100 recruits are unready for Division 1 ball their first year. Many figure it out as time goes on, some don't.
Expecting him to be ready because of some arbitrary ranking without understanding how he got that ranking is a little short sighted.
I get your point, bma. I'd just love to see how many Top 100 recruits are as securely nailed to the bench as EWill is. What makes it more disturbing is that MU has such a small roster, ahd he still can't get playing time.
More than Ewill, why are we not seeing more of Fulce? DePaul got some key offensive boards late in the game and we could have used his size. I also worry if the lack of minutes for our big guys is hurting our ability to attract post players.

He's not the only Top100 recruit that isn't taking D1 by storm. There are only so many John Wall's and Xavier Henry's out there. Give both Erik and Buzz a break! It will come with time. I do recall a McDonald All-American that was so not ready that he red shirted his first year. Does Brian Butch ring a bell?

Fulce got yanked by his own merit last night when he decided to jack up 3 long jumpers in 3 consecutive possessions. Yeah he hit the first one, but 18ft jumpers by Joe Fulce are NOT the best shot we can get. Talk about one possession that may have made the difference last night, I look no further.
If Junior wants to play, let him play. If nothing else, Junior will get experience that he can't get in practice. Practices would also then be more meaningful for him. At least he would not be starting from scratch next season.
Cadougan is going to be the guy at the point next year. The more real-world experience he gets now, the better he will be next year. So if he's physically able, he should play this year.

If he's at full-strength, and we don't play him anyway, that would be sad.
And the NCAA tournament isn't an impossibility.
Junior may or may not know what his long terms plans are if healthy - will he satay at MU for 5 years? For some reason, I think not. If he knows what he would do, then the answer is easy.
