it's over folks..when we can't beat De Paul when their star is hurt
we needed a win in those close games (Villi for example)
we belong on the bottom
its a bad night
bad night, yes. Saying we're outta the NIT? stupid
if we can't beat DePaul
do you honestly think
we can beat
Syracuse at Syracuse?

No, but they will probably figure out a way to lose by 2 pts to them too.

Absolutely. This team can catch fire in a hurry. On any given night we can beat nearly anyone. On 95% of nights we beat DePaul.
I'm just stating the obvious...thats all
:)
well we better put a streak together
cuz this resume is not looking good

On any given night we can beat nearly anyone - but don't - lots of heartbreaking loses, very few close wins.
On 95% of nights we beat DePaul. - Yeah but tonight was the 5%, no positive spin on that...
homer just said it - you expect these team to lose some games they shouldn't - but not this one...
NIT sucks
NIT = Not In the Tourney
There's nothing obvious about your post. It's pessimistic. It's an opinion. But not obvious. We had no business being competitive with Villanova or VW, beating GT or losing to DePaul. These team is anything but obvious.

We had a shot at beating Villanova (the Number One team in BE)... twice. So, yes... I honestly believe we can beat Syracuse. If you don't think so, I'll wake you up after the season is over.
wake me
when we can score more than 50 points on a bottomfeeder in the BE

Count me among those in need of a wake-up call. This team will not beat Syracuse. Boeheim will own Buzz. I'm counting this season as a learning experience for Buzz and the rest of the team

Calm down. Marquette sucked tonight. They just scored 90 some points and thought they were going to steam roll some team. Truth is, WE ARE NOT SUPPOSE TO BE GOOD THIS SEASON. We lost three all time greats. This stuff happens.
I'm pretty depressed myself, altho a little better after vomiting, over the dismal showing..., 6 made baskets in the second half? I blame the journal/sent for the jinx. Another close loss also begs the old saw that 'its the players job to keep the game close, and the coaches job to win'.
Maybe this will give everyone a reality check. Lets forget this game and enjoy the season. We are not an NCAA tourny team, we are rebuilding big time. We are an underdog looking for the upset. Our season will be defined by trying to play good teams close, maybe pulling an upset, maybe going to the NIT. We were picked to finish 12th anything better than that is a decent season.
I hate watching this team so much. You just know it's coming. It's unbelievable how you just feel the loss coming even early in the game. That's the worst part.

When will people stop getting their jollies on merely being competitive? A loss is a loss is a loss. A loss by any other name is still a loss. There is no such thing as moral victories. The team should be playing with a chip on its collective shoulder in the first place, for being picked 12th. Now the team should be playing just to maintain some sense of pride in the jersey. The effort last night is not representative of the normal effort given by the team and expected by the school and alumni. That is why the team should be embarrassed.

Agreed. We should not be satisfied with being "competitive". To me, that is a cop out. There is no reason why we should not be competing for BEast titles--other than our longstanding inability to recruit better bigs.
Why does Wisconsin continue to do well each year in the Big Ten and is able to recruit bigs each year?
Sure, we can blame our problems on injuries, but all teams have those. We need to get some big guys who can play so we do not end up with two Guards under 6 feet in the game with usually two other Guard types.

Why didn't you state it after the Georgetown, Villanova, or Providence games, or anytime before the DePaul game then? Did the team somehow get magically worse on the bus to Chicago?

Exactly what team have you been watching, or is last night the only game you've seen?

What does beating Syracuse have to do with going to the NIT? This team will make the NIT

I've been watching a team that puts out a heck of a lot more effort than was displayed the other night against DePaul.
we have no football team
all of our money and pride goes into MU hoops
over $10 million
we should have a better product
thats all

ha...I'm clueless?
my last statement was fact
we have NO football team
and all of our money goes to mens b-ball
how is that clueless?
Clarification: It's not "our" $. And that $10 mil generates over $13 mil, funding all other sports.
MU Basketball doesn't "owe" us anything, as much as some people would like to believe. Nobody is forced to give donations or buy tickets.

Well said. Anyone is free to stop purchasing tickets and/or donating money at any time. Except of course those who don't buy season tickets or donate. ;)
I think "product" is a poor choice of words for our team. That sounds more Memphis-y.
