I came across two JUCO big men and was wondering if anyone had any insight on these two recruits:
Brandon McGee - 6'8" 230lbs
http://www.youtube.com/watch?gl=JP&hl=ja&v=H_CGV9gwG3Q
If you read the info on the recent youtube video, it says that McGee went to IU, transferred to Auburn where he red-shirted and then ended up at Wabash Valley College and that he is currently receiving interest from Marquette. I'd assume he bailed on Indiana because of Sampson's firing, but I wonder if anyone knows why he then left Auburn as well (grades? homesick?)??
From the looks of the video, he seems like a fairly talented player, inside and out...does anyone know this kid's story?
Alonzo Edwards - 6'8" 245lbs
I've mentioned this kid in a recruiting post before...he originally committed to Nebraska, went there as a freshman, decided to leave, currently playing at Lon Morris College in Texas. Supposedly a pretty talented recruit who definitely would bring some added size to the 4 position...
What I didn't realize, is that he chose to leave Nebraska one season after the man that recruited him left for Marquette, Tony Benford...
Marquette is listed as a team that is interested in Edwards; do we have a leg up because Benford is in Milwaukee?
And if anyone knows anything about these two players and MU's involvement in their recruiting, is there one that we're more likely to land than the other? Or both, perhaps?
Thoughts? Preferences?
Take them both. Then press everybody everywhere for 40 minutes

I would love it if Buzz felt that we had enough depth to run the old Arkansas Razorback's "40-minutes of hell" defense...
Press, trap, run...LOVE IT...
Edwards has the Benford connection and he is from Houston Texas aka Buzz country.
I see from the youtube that McGee is already a (Wabash Valley College) Warrior!
Could be outdated, but we have not offered Edwards per rivals and he has high interest in small school down south who have offered.

Who knows how up to date that is, but MU would seem like a perfect spot for him.

Outdated. There is a reason why that defense fell out of favor everywhere but Missouri. Good teams beat it.
If I remember right, McGee is bad news...might be best to stay away.
Never heard of Edwards but it looks like there is definitely a connection through Benford and the Houston Area. If you trust the "offer list" (something that I rarely do), he has offers Two low majors, and is getting interest by other low majors, mid majors, with MU being the only High Major.
Remember...at this time last year, we had never heard of DJO. I think Buzz is really trying to find the right guy that can contribute next year.

Bad news as a person off the court? Or as a player?
A big man who can hit outside shots would be perfect to draw shot blockers away from the rim that Junior, Blue, Jimmy, and DJO will be driving at.

Both McGee and Edwards freshman seasons show they each earned about half the minutes Erik Williams is now getting

I'm surprised nobody mentioned McGee's connection here:

"Indiana coach Tom Crean dismissed forward Brandon McGee from the team on Thursday, leaving the Hoosiers with only three returning players for next season. McGee was kicked off the team because of academic and team guideline violations."He was also dismissed from Auburn for violating team rules.

"McGee has been dismissed from the team for a violation of team rules, AuburnUndercover.com confirmed."Why we would be interested in a player who has already been kicked off two different D1 teams for disciplinary reasons is beyond me.
Correctamundo. No mcGee for me please.
I actually saw the problems with McGee tonight when I looked him up a little more...too bad, he sounds / looks like a real player.
Does anyone know anything about Alonzo Edwards??? He has the size we need, but I really don't know anything about his game...
No thanks on McGee...there's a reason he has gone from school, to school, to school.

+1
He looks great stroking the 3s but we don't need any chemistry problems.
Anyone know anything about Kervin Bristol from Groward Community College 6'10" 220#
Looks like Houston and LSU as the only interest
