Marquette basketball made HUGE strides as a program last decade, and as much as most of you hate to admit it, Tom Cream did tremendous things for the MU basketball program and for the University as a whole.
I feel that for the continued success of the basketball program, it is essential that they get back to a Final 4 this decade or risk becoming a DePaul/South Florida like program in the Big East. This will be an extremely important decade for Marquette basketball to build on what was accomplished last decade.
Duhhhhhh, do you mean this decade we're in now (is that still the TC decade?) or the decade we're going to be in next year - the as-yet-unamed decade, which could well be called the Buzz Light Years (sorry), or maybe not. I'm confused as to just where are we now
Agree about Tom Crean and what he did for MU Basketball.
As far as your concern for becoming a DePaul/South Florida like team, I don't think you will find many on this board who share those fears. The Administration, along with key alumns, have shown their commitment to a quality basketball program. And Buzz, to date, has shown his capacity, not only with his current skills, but also to learn and continue developing as a coach. Something I feel we missed with the previous regime.
We have to show we're one of the very elite teams to avoid becoming a complete doormat and embarrassment? Hopefully we don't only make an Elite Eight or a few Sweet Sixteens then, since that would spell certain doom for the program. ::)
