Just wanted to say that I thought the movie was very well done...just odd that it came out at Christmas rather than during the summer season. I realize that they were angling for the holiday crowd, but it seems like this is more of a "summer blockbuster" type film.
Also, Chicos and Hards, feel free to not respond to this thread. It's funny that you both think bickering over the internet is really going to change anyone's mind. Scientists report that <0.2% of people care about what other people post in these stupid pissing matchs.
So was the pony-tail stroking scene like, really hot and stuff?
lol

Hey, I got an email today thanking me for my arguments and my links and that a mind had been changed (more like an open mind was leaning toward the science isn't a slam dunk now). So you never know.
I, too, enjoyed the movie. The video game on PS3...my son says, not great.
Anyone seen Sherlock yet? As a lover of the books, I thought it was very very good.

You just never stop do you? Even when its clear that the conversation is over.
Get over it.
Two thumbs up for Avatar. One has to see it in 3D. Amazing how real it looks!
I saw Avatar in IMAX 3D yesterday evening. It was a great SFX movie with a crappy plot about how oppressed american indians are. I couldn't believe how happy I was to see american soldiers die.
When I got home I threw my HD tv away because it's impossible to watch after seeing that movie. I'm saving up for a home 3D tv set... looks like they're about $10k at the moment.

And we will be launching the first 3D channel in 2010. I'm serious.
I don't know what content will be on it, but it will launch.
I'm looking forward to the sequel when the soldiers (did we conclude they were American? I figured by that time it's one world order and a big Kumbaya earth brigade) come in and level the smurfs and bring them to their knees in a show of galactic imperialism only to have the smurfs rise again and conquer the invaders....much like the Ewoks took down the empire. ;D
I can't believe anyone would actually want to see that movie, let alone discuss it.
I know. I know...To each his own.

$727 million in revenues already worldwide. It's pop culture and a treat for the eyeballs.

People want to see it b/c, in some ways, its this generation's Star Wars. Now, by no means do I think that Avatar was ANYWHERE as good as the original three Star Wars (that would be blasphemy), but in terms of cutting edge special effects and new technology, it's certainly comparable.
Rumor has it that Cameron basically had this idea/concept 20 years ago and has been sitting on it until the technology got good enough. He has been a behind the scenes force in pushing for movie like Spy Kids 3D (just threw up writing that) in order to get theaters to adapt 3D technology.
Buzz will travel to the planet Pandora and recruit a 12'4" PG.
Passed $1 billion this weekend

I liked it. I thought it was really clever and well done overall. I'm really not a Robert Downey Jr. Fan but his take on Holmes surprisingly goodThey set it up similar to the Batman reloads in that the movie blatantly opens itself up to a sequel that will likely feature Holmes' main adversary.
Plus Rachel McAdams is un-fricking-believably hot.

Sherlock was awesome.
Avatar was an incredible visual movie with a lot of cool ideas that haven't been done in an alien movie.
I was just out to dinner with a couple who said they wouldn't see avatar because they liked movies with a plot and because it was just "dances with wolves with blue people." Which wouldn't have been the lamest reason ever except in their next breath they started talking about how great Iron Man 2 looked.

Maybe they were specifically referring to Scarlett Johannsen(sp) looking great. In that case their statement is very accurate.
