Title: [Rosiak's Blog] Recap: North Florida
Post by: ToddRosiakSays on December 19, 2009, 06:00:04 PM
Recap: North Florida

Player of the game: Jimmy Butler once again was as efficient as always, scoring 21 points on 5-for-6 shooting and an 11-for-13 afternoon from the free-throw line.

But we'll give the nod here to Joe Fulce, who stepped into the void up front created by the departure of Jeronne Maymon and responded with career highs of 13 points and 10 rebounds in 23 minutes. Fulce broke his career scoring high by the first media timeout, and was all over the court at times, providing the energy and bounce that can become contagious at times.

He hit 6 of 9 shots overall, and also added two blocks, two steals and an assist to go along with a turnover. Most of his production came in 16 first-half minutes as he helped MU out to a 39-28 halftime lead.

Butler has definitely been a stud for us this year.

Question: Why has Hayward shot twice as much this year than Butler?
Butler is shooting 56% from the field--he definitely needs to be shooting 12 to 15 times per game.

part of the reason he is shooting such a high percentage is that he is very patient and non-selfish on offense.

Has his father demanded the offense be run through him yet?

while i agree that Butler needs to shoot more the numbers may be skewed becuase Butler gets fouled so dang much.  As most of you probably know if you shoot and get fouled it does not count as a shot.  Therefore for example today Butler scores 20+ but only got 6 shots.  I agree i am getting annoyed with Haywards fade away 3's that are always short ...step into the shot or stop shooting it.

Butler's FG% is actually up to 62% now.

Jimmy: 60/81 from the line
60 ft's / 177 total points - 34%

Lazar: 37/46 from the line
37 ft's, 201 points - 18%

As MR.H mentioned, I think the issue right now is Lazar's ugly 3-point shooting... if that gets cleaned up, I've got no issue with the Lazar/Jimmy usage.  Although, I wouldn't mind seeing Butler fire off a few more triples - he does pass up open looks..

Yeah, there was a thread about that earlier.

I have no qualms with Lazar taking them. He'd made them consistently before unlike DJ.
But with his current funk, I submit one of my favorite And-1 idioms:
"When I'm hot, I shoot. When I'm cold, I shoot until I get hot."

He needs to shoot. Period.

"That ain't what he does!"

Sean Penn might have been normal pre-madonna!  (sorry its Saturday night)

I rather doubt that. Having said which, Jeff Spicoli is one of the deepest, most complex roles in American cinema. I would rank the character Spicoli with Stanley Kowalski and Charles Foster Kane. Spicoli was a harbinger for the what is transpiring in western society today. I think Madonna whacked young Sean out and he embarked subsequently on a bizarre trail of left wing causes and diatribes, epitomized by his attending masjid in Tehran with the Mullahs. Hear this: Iranian IEDs are killing young Americans every week in Iraq and Afghanistan. I hope you can sleep at night Sean you traitorous bastard.

Agreed!  That's why I put might in italics.

Over the years, I have seen sane, intelligent, god-fearing, chisled barrel-chested freedom fighters go nuts over quim. To have such power is compelling but women have no idea the spell they can cast over otherwise rational men

Some have started calling him "cheetah" instead of tiger!
