My question is now that Walter Offutt has signed with New Mexico does that mean Drew Gordon is not going there? How many open schollies does New Mexico have?
Now that we have gone through the Maymon situation, I am wondering if Gordon is a similar type of head case. Based on ability, he is the only one on the list I would take. Attitude-wise, that is another question.

Doubtful. It looks like San Diego State is the frontrunner at the moment. Following the Ammo route of transferring to SDSU :) The list also shows Terrence Boyd is following the Mbakwe Path to Greatness at Miami Dade. Also interesting to note that Joe Dumars' son is leaving USF. As far as players we would want, the list doesn't offer much. None of the players with size were able to earn time at low-majors. If we had to take one (ignoring Gordon) it would be Genesis Maciel, 6-9 F-C and a sophomore transferring from Hartford, who averaged 5.9/2.7 in 19 minutes last year at Hartford, in the mighty America East Conference and was doing worse this year. I'm guessing if we have to wait until January next year for someone like that to play, and that's the best there is to offer, Buzz should easily be able to get someone better in the spring that could play at the start of next year.

One of my friends is a big UCLA basketball guy. When I was talking to him about Maymon, he said, "Oh thats exactly what we went through with Gordon."
I'd stay away from him.
Add Olek Cyzx from Duke to the list 6'7 235 Soph

Well, at least its a fair fight Saturday since they lost a 6-6 freshman forward to the midseason transfer as well:
Etienne Effenberg, 6-6, F, Fr., North Florida
And a 6-6 sophomore forward...
Zack Riggins, 6-6, F, Soph., North Florida
Geez...how common is transferring mid-season like this? Seems like an awful lot of names to be quitting on their teams like this. Honestly, I haven't really heard TOO much about it until this year with Gordon @ UCLA.

I was just thinking the same thing. Seems like a lot to me.
I don't know if any of these guys are of interest to Buzz, but if we do fill a mid-year spot, I pretty much expect it to be a JUCO that could at least potentially play immediately. Getting a guy that has to sit out a year doesn't help the team (except for practice) much unless he's expected to be a stud once his 1 year is up.

Transfers are common, mid season transfers, not as much... but becoming more common.
a lot of kids don't have their heads on straight.
I believe Gordon's dad played at SDSU
