Title: some interesting tidbits

http://chuckcorner.blogspot.com/2009/12/truth-about-jerrone-maymon.html

QuoteTonight, it what proves to be another twist in the 2009-2010 Marquette Basketball season. 2009 Wisconsin Mr. Basketball Jeronne Maymon decided to quit the team.  No one has given a reason why Maymon left the team but I have the information that I have heard nowhere else (honestly knowing the internet it's probably somewhere because people know people.)

I would like to say that I got this information from an anonymous source from the Madison area.  He would perfer if I kept his name out of it and thats completely logical in my mind.  Here's what I got from it....

"My Dad's best friend was talking to Tim Maymon last week and he was all fired up because Maymon was saying buzz promised him playing time and a starting spot, and it wasn't happening."

"Marquette was making him play inside and Jeronne wanted to play outside because they thought Jeronne was only going to play one year then go to the NBA, no joke."

"He (Tim Maymon) had already had a few meetings with Buzz. This is a college kid's dad sitting in his coach's office, kind of like Mitch Mustain (former Arkansas quarterback now third-string at USC) so they (the Maymon family) were already not happy then."

"Basically, Jeronne wasn't going to be academically eligible that's why the timing is so convenient with the end of first semester so he just quit, and will maybe play juco or try to transfer somewhere."

All of the following makes sense because if you are from the Madison area or have heard stories about Tim Maymon.  He thinks that Jerrone is the next LeBron James and feeds all of that crap into his head therefore you have the problem we have right now.  In addition, the academic issue shouldn't be surprising if you look at the interview Tim Maymon did with Todd Rosiak. Basically, he explained that his son was right at 2.0 (in High School!!!) and wanted to raise the grades so they would need a lower GPA to get into Marquette.

I will probably do something later this week on the mistake that was Jerrone Maymon and what's next for the Marquette Golden Eagles.  In addition, my source said that Vander Blue, the top Marquette recruit this will not sway his decision on Marquette

imo the best part is the last sentence

I think jerrone would have been a very solid player by his Junior year maybe by the end of his sophomore year.  However, it is not like he is some out of this world player.  In fact an incoming Juco ala Jimmy butler could pretty easily replace Jerrone for next year.  Sort of hard to do at this late stage but it's not like we have to replace some superstar we were counting on for next year.  I mean we are losing 4 points and 4 rebounds and 16 minutes.

I think Fulce and Ewill aree  a stp down over Jerorne right now but i really think Ewill has more upside.  the reason he was not getting the minutes is becuase he does not have Jerrones strength at this point to play the 4.  Another year in the weight room tho and I think Ewill can become better than Jeroone rather quickly.
Ewill had the length shot hops and skill Jerrone does not have.  His brief playing time sowed more glipses of flash and talent than Jeronne showed.  Jeronne was a bull only give him 3 more inches and he waould be Ok but he really did not show the skill Ewill has .  By his Junior year i think Ewill will be a star.  We just need a rebounding strong 4 Juco for next year and Jerrone will be replaced rather effectively.  I like Buzz' potential with 2 schollies to give.

hate to see Jeroone go but he has not really lived up to his billing.

You can say whatever you want to make yourself feel better but we have lost a very good player.  As far as comparing Maymon to EWill.  Maymon at this point in time is a better defender, a better passer and seems to have a higher basketball IQ.  Would that change a year from now, or two or three, who knows but he is better than him right now.  I would gladly have them both for all four years instead of starting over once again.  Also, we still don't know if Maymon leaving will ultimately sway Vander to go elsewhere and Jr. Lomomba(sp?) is now probably out of the picture.  There is nothing good out of any of this.

I asked him about it, and his source is pretty legit. Again, take it for what its worth.
