We all know that having fresh legs will be important to get up and down the court on bucky. And we all know that our practices are very intense and there is a strong emphasis on making every practice count. We also know that we have very little depth. My question to any insiders, do you think buzz ever gives our players some slower or different types of practices in order to get our legs back because of our noticeable fatigue at the end of games and short bench? Or would it be the other way around as to practice them harder to gear them for bigger and faster games? Or is it a combination of both? Thoughts?
You don't create stamina by taking it easy.
No kidding! That wasn't the point of my post moron.
Wasn't the point of your post to gain insight into the practice habits of Buzz? If he (A.)gave the guys an easier practice to get their legs back or (B) if he worked them harder to build their stamina.
Brewton seemed to eliminate option A, giving you an answer of option B. Which you seemed to be looking for when you said "Thoughts."
So... why is he the moron?
Guess I wasn't clear. I know stamina has to be built but my question is where is the line when it comes to practice in making sure your players have fresh legs while having stamina and the abilty to run the floor with a short bench. Does that make sense?
That is a great question to ask Buzz. Go to the Scout MU board on Mondays and Dodds usually has a ask Buzz thread that Homer will then ask Buzz on Buzz's Monday night radio show.
Buzz is very forth coming in his answers and you can find out a lot of detail info on his thinking about strategy, offensive/defensive philosophies, players and what his thought process was during specific plays and game situations. Well worth the time.
This last go around I found out that they havent been practicing much as a full team. Lots of smaller group workouts from the sound of it. Was only able to scrimmage 4v4 for a week due to injuries and such.
Since it only takes 2 days of inactivity/light activity to put a pretty big dent in the stamina you've built up, I'd guess the only time Buzz would ever consider making a practice lighter would be the day before a game.
That being said, it seems like Buzz pushes them to continue to grow and his whole, "1 percent better each day" would be kind of thrown out the window if they took it easy one day. I don't have any real inside info so I can't say for sure but I'd guess he pushes them every day they practice.
I am pretty understanding of the notion of them getting better each and every day as well as being pushed each and every practice. My post wasn't concentrated on them not being pushed but rather questioning what kind variations in practice might buzz implement to get their legs back under them in order to run like we are expected to. I know practices aren't ever "easy" so maybe I used the wrong words originally but it was more of a technical question.

Badgers are practicing hard. OT game and tough practices. Could give MU the edge at the end of the game

Reading Hughes' comments I have to wonder if he will come out and try to force things to make up for them losing to UWGB. While I think he has a good game, I think we are better off if Hughes puts up a big game rather than if Leuer puts up a big game.
Also, we're talking about 18-23 year olds. Energy shouldn't be a problem.
