Title: Dee Jay Oh
Post by: Doctor V on December 09, 2009, 01:18:00 AM
So I looked over at the Stud of Game tally and decided that DJO needs to get on that list soon... hopefully this weekend  ;)

Does anyone else absolutely love this guy? I know hes only played 8 games, but I believe this kid is the best shooter the team has had since Novak and Diener. Also, hes unbelievably athletic, and will one day be able to drive and score with much more ease. When that happens, look out- If guys have to step out and defend him from beyond the arc, he will get to the basket at will.

The kid is shooting 53% from three! I know thats a relatively short sample, but even if he ends up in he mid 40% range he will learn to score more going to the bucket. Also, he has been in double figures in 7 of 9 games

I think this kid will be by far the most impressive newcomer by years end. If he becomes more aggressive he can average around 15ppg and be an All BE rookie. His appearance alone screams junkyard dog  ::)

I know we've got some good recruits coming in next yr, but if this guy continues to develop and maintains his health I see him as a mainstay in the starting lineup for the next two yrs...This yr we said Lazar and Jimmy were locks, next year it just may be Jimmy and DJO as locks, even with Junior, VDB, Jones, and Smith joining the 1-3 positions

BEST thing about DJO is that he makes the baby blue Dominic James jersey I purchased last season, which I received a lot of grief for buying when he was hurt a few games later, last for 3 more years  ;D whos laughing now?

I'll agree with this. I think he could be as valuable as hayward or butler.

Really stoked we have this kid for three years and not just two.   He's a player.

I second, third, fourth (or whatever we are at) that.  He is THE most exciting player on the team - not the best yet, but the most exciting.

I am as excited about DJO as I was about Butler last year... which is to say, a lot.  I think DJO is contributing earlier and with more results than Butler did at this time last year.. probably because we don't have the 3 amigos around and more of the load falls on the newer guys.  He's been very close to getting a SoG honor, I think it's just a matter of time.  I'd LOVE to award it to him for the UW-Madison game (partly because that means we won it).

Buzz said in the post game talk with Homer that DJO is almost too smart right now and worrying so much about the defensive end that he isn't even really focused in on the offense for the whole game.  When he is able to just go out and play he is going to be very, very good.

The next time people want to knock Buzz for recruiting one-year JUCOs they need to pause and remember Butler and DJO.

I have absolutely no problem with signing one year juco's when they are the best available.  If it means filling a roster spot with a quality player that we have for 3 years, I'm all for it.

+1
It's nice to watch them develop over three years!

We can pray he is that good...!  If that's what you are implying.

Love the way he plays. He should be on the floor as much as possible. At this point, maybe his foot injury has affected his conditioning and he's not 100% there physically. That is the only potential reason I can stomach Cooby and Acker being on the floor at the same time -- although I would still rather have Buycks in there at least attempting to create a shot.

Every time DJO gets an open 3 on the wing, my 10-year-old yells out 3333333-J-OH!

I've made this joke all year... who knew you'd be making such a great investment in spirit wear
