Title: Half Time Adjustments
Post by: mugrad2006 on December 05, 2009, 05:48:41 PM
Both FSU and NC State featured MU up by a pretty sizable lead going into the break.  Both games had us shooting particularly well from the floor and the three (including DJO's absolutely beautiful stroke). And both games ended with MU getting trounced in the 2nd half.

I've been really impressed with Buzz thus far, both last year and this year.  I also recognize the youth on the team and the injuries that painfully keep stacking up (How tough was it to be missing Maymon this game)?

That being said, have we simply been out coached in the second half in both these games?  Maybe somebody with a better basketball IQ than me can explain the seemingly brilliant adjustments by our opponents that have cut these double digit leads and led to the losses.

Either way, I've got the seatbelt on and am ready for the roller coaster season we're about to work through.  Win or lose, this team is a blast to watch.

As I expressed in another thread, it's easy to adjust vs. MU at the half. Buzz' hands are tied. He has limited personnel available and therefore, limited options of offensive and defensive schemes. To beat these teams, MU has to play a near perfect game. Limited margin of error.
