Did anyone else see the tan one call a timeout with 32 seconds left and his team down 17, then start going at Gary Williams?
He then had a big discussion with the refs in which he looked none to happy.
the announcers had no idea what was going on.
Gary Williams didn't look happy about it when the coaches shook hands at the end of the game. TC tried to talk to him but it didn't look like GW wanted to hear it.
strange. I wonder if GW stole one of his diet pepsis??
Crean wanted Williams to pull his starters at the end of the game. Suprised TC is not more worried about his own team instead of something so petty....actually, I'm not suprised.
II only lost by 17? He should have been overjoyed with that result. What a strange little man.

actually Maryland is pretty bad and IU was at home and played a decent first half. If IU was going to get a NC "name" victory, this was their chance.

actually he should be happy he only lost by 17...they are terrible.
Maybe there wasn't a whiteout as he expected.
Maybe he didn't sell out the game - something he noted in interviews before this one.
and that affects Marquette how?
Crean was having his team foul and hustle to try to still fight to get in the game all the way to the end - why would Maryland pull their starters? I watched the second half - they stayed closed until the 3 minute or so mark. They are better than last year, but that's not saying much.
Hey the tan one has only had 2 years of rebuilding. Give him a chance
it doesn't "affect" MU at all, the man just happens to have coached MU for 9 years (including my MU years) and I was watching the game on TV.
it's def. is "newsworthy" according to the standards of Dr. Karen Slattery in the Broadcasting dept. at MU.....

I'm sure Williams would have pulled his starters if tc wasn't throwing a full-court press at them for the last minute. Williams did the right thing. If that is what got tc's panties in a bunch.
That reminds me of Harbaugh calling the timeout at the end of the Stanford-USC football game last Saturday so USC threw a bomb to score.

Wasn't that UCLA that did that?
:)
As you all know, I cannot stand the guy, but I guess he was upset about some of the things coming out of the student section (obscenities).
I give him another 3 years before he's canned. They have marginal talent and he just doesn't have the charisma to recruit big time players. And the people in Indiana know way too much about basketball to put up with a salesman coaching their team.
If you connected him to a lie detector, I suspect he'd admit to making a horrible, horrible mistake...much to my delight.

oooooo
getcha popcorn ready.
I just read on the IU board what was chanted, and it wasn't just obscenities, reports include:
Yelling; Yellow P*ssy @ a Chinese player for Maryland
Yelling; "go back to Cuba" or "go back to Mexico" to other foreign players, chanting homosexual slurs...

Then Gary Williams had every right to be upset at that, along with Crean. Terrible and a shame what things have come to in some arenas.
From IU's student newspaper:
QuoteBut Crean also said he was disappointed in the fans' profanity. At times they shouted "a s s h o l e," as well as "go back to Cuba" for senior guard Greivis Vasquez and "USA" chants for Jin Soo Choi, the South Korean forward for the Terps. There were also chants of "still a kitten" for Vasquez.
I agree, I never understood chants like these. I have heard them everywhere too... Do the people making the chants think they are funny? Creative? Intelligent? Because they simply are not.
so they told him to go back to Cuba even though hes from Venezuela? hmmm....

Go back to.... is fine. Yellow Pu**Y.... is not.
I dislike Crean, but I'm glad he took a stand against what was going on at the game. Good for him.

It's in the Superbar plus the thread was clearly identified as a Crean thread. If you want Marquette infomation that's what Hangin at the Al is for.
While I appreciate what Crean did here, there are some (including myself) who love seeing the crap pile up over at IU.
Bitterness is not something to live for
:'(
Nothing like seeing there might be a basis for those who chose to leave Marquette to be cursed.......
It couldn't have happened to more swell guy :)

.
The IU fans might get a little impatient, but I think the fact that the team plays hard and he runs a clean program gets him through this year.
Crean actually still has a chance this year to get Josh Selby. This would be a HUGE get for him and would really create some hope during what looks like a battle with Iowa for the bottom of the Big Ten again. His first 5-star.
http://rivals.yahoo.com/ncaa/basketball/recruiting/player-Josh-Selby-54917
The 2011 recruiting class will be what makes or breaks Crean.
He has some players already:
http://basketballrecruiting.rivals.com/commitlist.asp?Year=2011&School=30&Sport=2
###The fans will lose patience if he cannot keep the number 2 recruit in the country in-state.
http://rivals.yahoo.com/ncaa/basketball/recruiting/player-Marquis-Teague-77385
He already lost a 5-star center from Indianpolis to Louisville
http://rivals.yahoo.com/ncaa/basketball/recruiting/player-Michael-Chandler-86161
He also lost a 4 star guard from BLOOMINGTON! to Xavier
http://rivals.yahoo.com/ncaa/basketball/recruiting/player-Darwin-Davis-86156
Not getting this kid Teague will be the beginning of the end of IU fans' adoration of Crean as a recruiter.
I love the thread on peegs calling to disband the basketball program

Kind of like how MU wasn't recruiting Maymon until Buzz was hired as head coach.
S-M-R-T.
Keeping a kid who is from Indiana is really important to all the Hoosiers. Maybe they were not recruiting the 4-star guard from Bloomington ( I don't know if they even offered DJ either), but that will probably anger some people down there. Who knows though.

Not perfect for the swing.
Didn't get a 1600 SAT like the rest of UW's athletes.
;)
Didn't promise him a starting job like Buzz did. THAT's the reason JMay is starting right now. Oh. Wait...........
