Title: Interesting exchange from Buzz radio show
Post by: MUfan12 on November 30, 2009, 10:48:26 PM
About the end of the game-

Buzz said he was told (in so many words) that he was being "too demonstrative" while trying to get a timeout when DJO nearly stole it. Homer followed up by asking- "So they didnt think there was enough time to call a timeout when he got possession?" in regards to Lazar catching the long inbounds. Buzz's response was "I don't know if they were in an emotional position to be able to answer that question in the right way."

I have to wonder if Buzz's response was directed at Mike Kitts...

I was wondering why Buzz wasn't given a timeout. ESPN even showed a replay of Buzz in the ref's face pleading for one.

MU could have thrown up a desperation 3 had it been granted.

Come on...no referee in the country gives us a timeout...besides, was DJO ever in possession of the ball inbounds?

I have to say, I really like Buzz and he's clearly been a good hire so far, but his behavior after this loss, as well as after the loss to Missouri could be improved.

That I don't have a problem with, but I thought there was plenty of time to grant a TO when Lazar caught the long inbounds pass.

I think it had more to do with Lazar gaining possession on the inbound.  I think a t.o. could've been given and we could've set up a desperation three.

Right.  DJO was never inbounds to even call a TO... but lazar caught the ball with around 0.7 to 1.0 seconds left.  Enough time to inbound and launch a 3 or even a 2.

Will you knock off that do-gooder stuff please?  He was frustrated after a bad loss...I was too.  You sound like Tom Pippines after Kevin O'Neil was ejected in a game in 89-90 against UW.  Every single call went against MU and he lost it...rightfully so.  After he was tossed he went down the Badger bench shaking everyone's hand...classic.  Next night Tom Pippines (Mr. Nice Guy) complianed about his behavior...much like the feel good (let's play Dayton every year) milk-toast "fans" we've got on commenting on Buzz's behavior.

Yeah, I'm hoping we can get a coach who will take it up the a$$ and go softly into the night.  Come ON - it's the heat of battle, closely contested, a little passion, animation and intensity is to be expected.  If I were a player, I'd appreciate the fact my coach toes the line and battles for me.  Buzz doesn't berate officials all game long, he goes fairly easy on them - but when he senses injustice at the end of critical games - he rightly goes ballistic, as any coach should, or would.

as opposed to I4, who'd just pace back and forth on the bench jamming his glasses into his face.

I'll ask again, PRN, who would you be happy with coaching MU?

Maybe you can show me where I said I was unhappy with Buzz Williams coaching at MU. I like him so far, I just thought he embarrassed himself after the Missouri game...Sunday's was about 1/8 of that.
