Title: Florida Report
Post by: Dr. Blackheart on November 26, 2009, 06:21:33 PM
First things first from Orlando:

Bartender reported that MU and Michigan are the biggest drinkers and tippers.  "Hands down"

Manny Harris is a stud.  NBA lottery pick.  But we can press Michigan as they have no point.

Walked out with Cottingham, he grabbed an extra Old Spice sample, presumably for Buzzman.

MU alums LOVE Buzz.  He coached a "phenomenal" game!

Baylor has the most balanced talent.  Very raw.  If we beat UM, we can win this thing.

Refs are in pre-season mode.

Jesuit schools travel well

Evil,
How warm was it in the Milk House? Cottingham may have gotten a smell of Buzz if he soaked his threads again. Either that or we're not paying the cat enough.

Buzz had his own Jumpman thing going.  Hop, skip and jump.  Gotta love him.  He is going no where.  Converting the masses.  Plus, he now smells good.

Cannot believe Bama is winning the Battle of the Baptists at half.  Baylor is loaded but undisciined.

FSU v Iona.  Snaer not even starting, Iona has a 7!foot center.  FSU  a technical before the tip off.

Surprise, surprise.  MU has second best team to Michgan.
Creighton guys in bar Po'ed as they thought they had us ove Xavier.  Guys, we can win this with win over Michigan who had a togh OT win today.  Buzz has troops preped well.  Fla state has easy path.  Not disciplined.

Nice on-site updates Dr.!  Will you be doing the same for the Michigan game?

Sorry.  Too nervous during the game to type with my sausage paw on the iPhone.  Huge, huge win.  Other teams are afraid of our guards.  Buzz just keeps subbing in our depth.  We are just so damn quick.  Buzz tries to extend our pressure out to counteract our lack of height. Another great gameplan by the coaches.

Harris is a stud.  We struggled with mismatches but it looked like we were trying to deny him the ball or his first dribble.  Difference was our perimeter D as Beilein's teams live on the arc.

Officials missed a lot of walks.  MU fans frustrated.  Buzz was five feet on the court a couple of times.  I thought he was going to pickpocket Harris on play.  John B.  Gave Buzz major kudos after.

Xavier looks on today.  Their fans still stinging we beat them.

Sorry about the spelling.  Liquor does that to you.

Understandable Dr.  I'm curious about the buzz in the area after the big win today?  What are our fans and other school's fans saying about our team now?

Thanks doc for the updates!  Much appreciated.

Fans here very bball savvy.  Most I talked too knew about our injuries, zar and Jimmy.  But, they are all impressed with our unknown guards.  MI fans said before the game that they had no answer for our guards.  Then Buzz starts DB and DJO and sits Joe.  DJO is so strong. He set the tone in first half

Btw, I was smack in the middle of MU fans and didn't hear an "overated" chant.  ESPN was across the court where other team's fans are.  Didn't hear us chanting that.

Xavier likes like different team today.  The floor announcer here is awesome.  Doesn't miss a thing on subs, fouls.  Great tourney

a big soccer fest going on here too at the WWS complex

The "over-rated" chant disses one's team as much as the opposition.  I've never liked it.

Xavier looked good this pm.  Game got chippy.  Hoping for a bams win now over FSU.  Would be a home game for FSU.  They were lined up for 3 blocks for this session, although only 50 showed up last night.

So, should I dare say that we wear the baby blues on Sunday.

Talked to Len, had to sing a verse of New York, New York to get the Tiger update.  Some cuts on the face but doesn't sound like DUI.  Wink

Why would you take it upon yourself to censor others and impose what you think is right or wrong to chant upon them?

No need to get political. ;)

At this moment, Bama's trailing by 12. FSU looks like they're in control. Their front court is 6'9", 6'8", 6'11", 7'1". Crazy...

This is a Slow 11 game.  Singleton is the difference.  Big backline.

Bama has 58 fans here.  I counted them.  Football first school.

Official scorer has a mini mullet.  His partner is Steve Dahl.

Halftime break-dancers just walked by.  Not FSU cheerleaders burnwill do. Maybe Tiger is in the House?

So back to the Old Spice:

-Saw Buzz & fam at Wild Kingdom this AM.  Think Aki was with.  Buzz was pushing the stroller.
-Benford was last coach left at Bama-FSU game.  Assume he is lead scout for this game.  Will be interesting what lineup we go with.  Think Fulce has to start to give us some height.  JMay?
-FSU was at Wild Kingdom too being followed by ESPN crew.  Saw them getting off Everest.  Tall, freaky tall.  Not a good match up for us.  Possessions will be key.  We need a lot to offset their rebounding edge.  They like to throw over the defense for looks so maybe we can get some steals.  I assume we will be n foul trouble, so JMay , EWill, and Yous better be ready.

No more on Tiger since the cone of silence has been lowered.

This is unconfirmed:  Tiger allegedly told the police the reason he was leaving his home so early in the morning was he wanted to get to the Walmart in Orlando to get the "name brand" Blue-ray disk player on Black Friday.

Maybe I should rename this thread "The Eye of the Tiger"

Anyway, 7th place game a good one between Creighton and Iona.  Shows just how great coaching can take you.  Altman and Willard teams play hard on both ends, great ball and man movement.  Fun to watch

Willard is a Pitino assistant and son of Ralph.

Quite a few MU fans at the AM session.  No FSU fans.  They will be 80 percent tonight but admit they are football fans first.

Badgers and Irish in the Old Spice next year.

MU on the visitor's bench tonight.
Title: Re: Florida Report
Post by: Dr. Blackheart on November 29, 2009, 12:54:52 PM
Both Creighton and X look tired.  Altman kept inserting a Scrambled eggs line up in 2nd half.   X getting 2-3 zoned.  Love taken out of game by Baylor bigs.  X guards sloppy.

We are going to need our bench as FSU going inside. Four games in six days and hostile crowd not going to help.

Final report guys.  Just got back from late night at the Magic Kingdom.

A tough one but thrilling.  The boys left their heart on the floor. Zar was consoling Jimmy on the court after.  I see JB is getting some heat but you had to see his effort.  He was on Singleton and got him in foul trouble, had to guard the center when Lazar got into foul trouble and when JMay got his bell rung--which really shortened our bench (didn't see that mention but I am guessing he suffered a concussion the way the dc was looking at him).  Jimmy is our best ft shooter--he had no legs left.

Buzz and time-outs.  I think he tried to run FSU off the floor.  Len burned through most of his early, so I am guessing Buzz wanted to run them and burn up their energy with the run back.  He thought FSU was on the ropes plus they had 9 fouls through all that run back but JB kept missing (used his energy getting to the hoop to be fouled).  Even when Buzz called one in the run back, Buzz only took at :30 which I thought was a mistake.

I think DJO was supposed to take that last shot as DB was crashing the weak side as time was about 2.9.  Not enough time for DB to get a shot off even if the pass as good.

Yous was funny.  Coaches had to tell him what to do, but he did it well.  Buzz was trying to get his final TO called as DJO was falling out of bounce (or edged).  Burr wouldn't give him one.

With about 4:40, homer time keeper forgot to start the fame clock.  Of course the officials nor our bench noticed.  Crowd was yelling.  Could have been 10 seconds , give or take.  Really bad they didn't go back to the monitor.  Of course, I think it wound up helping us.

In the end it was a battle.  FSU is picked third in the ACC, finished second in last year's ACC tourney.  It is long and talented.  Buzz needs to get more experience without bigs.  We cannot put that on a few.  EWill was up a time or two tonight, but Buzz pulled him back.

To conclude, I received some sage advice from a 3 year old tonight:  "I am cold, tired, and I want a churro."

Thanks to Dr. Blackheart...whoever you are...for some great eyewitness accounts. Tough loss, but you can't say it wasn't a successful tournament for the Warriors. NC St. game (ACC payback?) should be packed and the boys should be given a very, very warm reception!

There was another time even later, with 1 minute plus I think, that the clock didn't start either, again they made no attempt to fix it.  My son noticed it and was yelling at the tv.  Funny stuff.
