I just got a feeling MU gets it done tomorrow. Nobody expects them to win and I think they pull one out on a hot shooting day. And I expect Len Elmore to be singing the praises of not a New York City kid, but the New York state native Lazar Hayward.
With all due respect, we're reading it here first, MUAvenue.

4ever, how you see the game playing out tomorrow? Blowout win for Xavier?
Edit: I see you got Xavier winning by 15 in the prediction thread. I also see someone predicting MU to lose by 30 points. When was the last time MU lost by 30 or more? Was it that UofL game when Diener was out?
Hard for me to get a positive feel for the games this weekend, Thong. I'll admit to not knowing much about X. Also, MU's games, to this point, have been largely exhibitions. So, it's difficult to know what to expect. Hopefully, by BE season, the Warriors will be a little more predictable. Hell, I don't even know what the roles of our players are. Prior to the season, I thought a starting line-up of Jr., Bucyks/DJO, Otule, Maymon, and Hayward would be a lock. Well, that's all been blown out of the H2O. Still think MU acheives this season, but just not this early on. Would be happy to be wrong.

dang, cat, you must be tired after writing all of that. didn't know you could do more than a sentence or two.
Don't you have a family wedding to go to or something? Maybe just watch a video on how to carve a turkey or make stuffing. Or just go over your potato chip sales receipts?
No. I'm not. Not even a little bit.
But, I've got my sporks ready in hopes that I have to eat those words.
Just an UPSET STOMACH.
I am hoping for a win for the Warriors, but have real concerns we will get killed inside.
If that happens, it is more of the same ol, same ol. I just do not see us getting the job done in the paint.
We will need to shhot 50% from three point and have 10 or less TO's to win.

Depends on how much I eat and/or Aunt Mabel's cooking. Taking the Alka-Selzer along just in case.

you're about 5 years in the past with the chip thing, kimosabi.
I think that we have a decent team and will see some upsets later in the year.
That being said: We're playing what looks like pick-up street ball right now. We've given opponents unlimited open 3s as well as wide open baseline drives every game we've played thus far. Playing against teams that have real offensive threats this weekend (to say nothing of the increased speed and length to defend) I really think we're going to get crushed.
I think we deserve to get crushed. I'd like to win, but it will be beneficial to know what we have to work on before we play Villanova and WV in just over a month.

Sorry, didn't know you got a promotion delivering bottled water.
well i am very surprised to see this thread. Persoanlly i fully expect us to win. Xavier is a solid team but we are much better than people are apparently giving us credit for. Butler, DJO, Buycks, and LAzar can defend and rebound and can score against anyone. We are better than people think, not as good as last year but still pretty good.
Oh by the way for the posters thinking we play "street ball", ...you have been watching too much of Indiana and Wiscosin play.
some disciples of the game feel it is better to attempt to push the basketball and attempt to acheive a numbers superiority leaving someone open for a good shot versus the option of slowing the ball down and allowing the defensive team the opportunity to get all 5 players back and organized. Difference in philosophy. I for 1 prefer the former, which my guess is most people from Wisconsin, iowa, and Utah refer to as street ball

I said pick-up street ball. Emphasis on the pick-up part of the game.
Our guys are new. We don't really have an offense yet, even Buzz said that he's teaching fundamentals and he'll get to the offense later. The guys have been trying to play like a team, but with the number of guys out of position on any given set our offense degenerates into a pick-up type game out of necessity.
I'm fine with pushing the ball and playing loose. The problem is the amount of time that we have guys wandering around out of position (mostly Maymon, EWill, Buycks and Yous at this point) reduces the options for the ball handler and puts him into a tough situation. So far that tough situation has been holding the ball and one of the vets yelling at the noobie telling him where he should be. Against a more mature team like Xavier I feel that they'll eat us alive because of our inability to have all 5 guys on the floor execute consistently.

I haven't seen anything remotely close to predictions on the Old Spice. Who are all these people who say Marquette has no chance?

I think you may have gotten too accustomed to seeing Tom Cream basketball with "sets" and 200 different "plays." Buzz runs a motion/free flowing offense, not sets, per se. They have a few basic concepts against zone defenses (which is all we've seen). There has been nothing that resembles street ball, out of this MU team. I think Buzz's coaching has been exceptional, great execution, limited confusion among the new players, etc. Our D has been great..South Dakota hit a few long 3's which were very closely contested. Today should be very interesting to see how we react to man-to-man defense. I think we may struggle with that today.
The guard play may even out, but I don't really know if we can cover Jason Love at 6ft 9, 250 and that 7ft center Frease. I see some foul trouble for Lazar or Butler and that is not good.
MU is only a 5.5 point underdog and I hope we have a good showing on national TV.
DB's thong.......I have to give you credit, those cats can ball!
Hey Xavier, want some pancakes?
The queasiness is over! The stomach is upset still...
NO TURKEY YET! :)
Happy Thanksgiving everyone!
Nice win. I am sure there will be many complaints, but Lazar played great, even though he got stuffed by Love on more than one occasion, Butler was consistent and Acker played ALOT better in second half. Nice holiday treat
Was feeling an upset...now just finished feeling it, along with a nice buzz from downing 4 bloody mary's this morning and 3-4 brews along with dinner...BRING on the WOLVERINES!
wow how bout that MrHayward dude calling all you guys out Mu win all the way never a doubt!!!
I got an idea lets discussed the flawed hiring process!!!!!!!

How about your crystal ball for tomorrow?
well lets just say i was happy with creighton up 5 with 2 minutes left. but just like the XAvier gane i thibk we are better than Um or creighton. UM 's 4 guard offense will be easier to handle. how do we handle the 1-3-1 will decide the game...we are talented enough but like any unconventional team you never know. i think we can guard them...sims is tough but they dont have two headed monster like xavier did. MU +6
Well I am a little disappointred with my self that i only had us beating Michigan by 6 , i failed to factor in that they were a B10 team and would utterly lack athleticism except for one player, Harris.
There two guards Novak and the other white kid that kept traveling and throwing up air balls reminded me of Scott Christopherson

I'm glad you were right, but there is not need for that comment.
Christopherson barely played for MU, and decided to transfer. No big deal. Best of luck to him.
No need to blast the kid every time MU goes up against a white player.
Focus on the positive.
thought it was pertinant given all the fawning over how great aplayer he was now that he was at ISU. Any one that has the big ten network and saw last nights game knows his recent hype by passive agressive types on this board was pure hyperbole and the realists know SC has absolutely zero business being a part of Mu's current roster nad would not help us except to keep the seat between EW and Frozena warm.
