I know it's early in the season and we've played some really bad teams but it seems like this year's team has the ability to play well without it's best player on the court. In past years I can remember the team completely stalling out when their best player was out (Wade, Diener, James in the early years). The team this years has been able to maintain momentum and play well with Lazar out. This could be key if Lazar is continually in foul trouble. Things may change though when we run into better teams.
It may change against better teams, I agree... but it is nice to have many options on offense, and a number of guys that appear to be able to shoot the 3. Yes, the 3's will be tougher against better teams, but at least we will have a number of guys on the floor all the time that can/will take and hit the 3. It can only help open up lanes and the inside a little. And we acutally look decent versus a zone, the big 3 and Burke sure had trouble against zones. It looked like a more balanced offense, and production may come from different players depending upon the game. DJO, if he continues to develop, could be a very productive player off the bench. I just hope these new guys don't get stage fright in their first few big games, starting with Thanksgiving weekend.
