Title: What should have been.
Post by: RubyWiscy on November 19, 2009, 05:38:31 PM
I like most am disappointed at not landing T Black.  He would have made for an super great class.  As it is right now, with Smith this is a super class with potential to become super great.

In all fairness to Buzz for not yet landing the "big" that T Black could have been, he did have Clark in the fold till things went sour.  All reports were that Clark could have been that "big" for this class.

I still believe MU will not sign a top big until it proves it can develop and utilize bigs prominently in its system. MU just does not have the reputation over the last decade or so to attract top bigs.  Thus, we keep getting close, but not quite.

.

No  reports said that.  He is essentially a 6'10" SF...not the true "inside presence" that we are desperate for.

Tarik Black signed to Memphis, and I can't recall the last decent big to be developed in that program. Taggert was hardly a dominate inside presence, and Niles is simply a house that does not have much of an offensive game. We simply are not landing these top bigs because we are competing with top programs and it is a challenge. Buzz will land someone. have faith

oh shoot I forgot about him. You are right he was quite good, but at the same time I think that Buzz will get a big and that it has nothing to do with our ability to develop them.

I would be happy with taking a chance on a 3 star big, with the idea that he will get better like ousmane barro.

Tarik Black went through a process.

Obviously, at the end it came down to this thought: MU has not proven it can develop and utilize bigs prominently in its system.

It was an easy decision for Tarik.  We had no chance.

well that seems like a foolish thought process, especially with Memphis just getting a new coach that is unproven
