Thats awesome. Their putting Andrei Kirilenko on the bench for Wes to start. Kirilenko is the biggest waste of money, I think hes making something around $18 million a year.

Wow! It appears as if Sloan is trying to shake things up with Matthews starting instead of AK47.
This could be a test for him to see if he can play with the starters. I wonder, with the Jazz struggles, if the organization is leaning in a new direction with Wes being a part of it (all speculation and no facts). I just have been checking up on the Jazz boards and the fans are getting a bit tired of recent roster.
This could be a chance for Wesley to prove he deserves a longer stay and could be more than just a role player in the NBA or at least a consistant role player on the team with Miles, Korver coming back from injuries (I could be getting ahead of myself, but his time has increased significantly and has been playing in the fourth quarter).
I wish him luck.
I'm going to the Utah/Cleveland game tomorrow night, so I hope Wes starts that one as well.
Good for Wes!!! That's awesome!! AK47 had like 1-2 nice seasons then got a fat pay check and has really fallen off into obscurity around the league.

Wes is going to stay. He may hit a wall and his minutes may drop, but he has shown enough that the Jazz would be absolutely nuts to drop him now. Especially since they have the roster space and all they would be doing is saving rookie free agent money.
On Direct TV now! Channel 684-1 FSU. Wesley starting with Eric Maynor in all-rookie backcourt vs 76ers. He looked loose and confident in the Jazz pre-game show, saying he was not concerned about his rookie status, he just wanted to win. Unfortunately, the actual game is blacked out in the Philadelphia area where I'm located. Its also on atdhe.net In 3rd qtr Wesley so far has 9 points:two 3s and a three point play.
A team-high 14 points at the half. Good for him.
Looks great. 14 points. 3 for 3 from the arc. 2 rebounds. Took a charge and another that was called a foul. Just looks comfortable.
At the end of 3rd qtr: 28 mins, 5-8, 3-4 three pts, 3 reb, 2 steals, 1 assist, 16 points.. Looking poised. Wesley has arrived. In his 1st game vs 76ers D-Wade had 18 pts.
He was just named co-super sub of the game with Maynor. He has 16 points in 36 minutes with 5 minutes to play. Jazz up 18
How can he be a super sub, if he started? ::)

Great question, but that's what he got. It was sponsored by Subway, I assume because he's normally a sub, that's why they gave it to him. The other winner, Maynor...also started tonight. :D

Well, you have to admire the consistency! ;D
Wes has put together a really nice string of games for a rookie, let alone an undrafted one: http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/players/gamelog?playerId=4032 (http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/players/gamelog?playerId=4032)
If Wes keeps this up, he will be in line for a nice contract.

I'd say $457,588 is a pretty nice salary.
talk about a steal worth of value from the Jazz' perspective. They didn't spend a draft pick are paying the league min. and get a heck of a contributor out of Wesly out of the deal.

He needs to stick around until mid-January, when the contract becomes guaranteed.
He's getting more minutes than Novak or Diener have ever gotten...he's a freakin' BARGAIN!!
I'm telling you, he's a perfect fit for Jerry Sloan. A hustler, smart, not a trouble maker. He's Tyrone Corbin reincarnated!
He's a player to really, really be proud of as a MU fan...as are all our NBA players.
Sure helped him when the Bloomington Bozo left.

Imagine how much further he could be had he not been subjected to the Tanned One's neglect

Exactly...I ask the same question about Wade daily...how much farther could he have gone...same with Novak and Diener.
anyone know if Wes is getting the start against Cleveland tonight?

sounds like he is
thanks gwaki
Wes has 10 at the break with two big 3s to keep this a game.
Wesley is guarding Lebron, and Lebron only has 11 points going into the 4th quarter
Is this game televised?

I've watched most of the game, I haven't seen him guard him. Millsap has been on him.
Wes was taken out at the end of the 3rd, just went back in when Millsap fouled out. He is on a taller white guy.
Edit* Anthony Parker
not splitting hairs, but i dont think anthony parker is white. Unless this is an AP, that didnt play for bradley back in the day.
Didn't change it on the edit, my bad. I was watching online, so it was pretty grainy.
That, coupled with no knowledge of NBA hoops at all, is my excuse!
I went to the game tonight with my kids. Wes started the game and played well. He played the entire first quarter. It was funny because twice in the first quarter it seemed like he thought a sub was coming in for him and headed toward the bench only to be told he was still in the game. He was a little late on some defensive rotations, but overall he did a really nice job. He didn't get the ball too much, but took advantage of it when he did.
I know it's a less recent picture...
But the MU vs. Indiana "rivalry" continues in the NBA! ;)

And MU comes out on top! :p
Wow, 13 more points against the Cavs for the near upset, including burying a trey from the corner on the ESPN highlights.
Pics & vid from yesterday night game in Cleveland.

A great follow-up article from the Salt Lake Tribune about Wes and Maynor
http://www.sltrib.com/Sports/ci_13795706
It's worth it to read until the end. Wes gets the last couple paragraphs :)
The Jazz have to begin winning some ballgames. They have an 85 million dollar payroll(http://hoopshype.com/salaries.htm) and they are playing two rookies. I know we are happy that Wes is starting but when you have an 85 million dollar payroll you don't play rookies unless the other 84 million dollars on your payroll isn't doing a good job or is injuried. It seems like its a combination of the two.
http://hoopshype.com/salaries/utah.htm
I can't believe the amount of money that certain players are getting on this payroll and they are 4-6. They have their work cut out for them and I know that the season is early but you need to start out well.

Welcome to the world of the NBA and awful contracts. This isn't the only team and the only year this sort of thing happens.
