Title: Blue and Gold Room
Post by: WarriorMU on November 13, 2009, 12:20:06 PM
I was just given the card to access the Blue and Gold Room for tonight's game but don't really know what it is or what's in the room.  Is it worth it to stop in?

No. It's basically a coat rack and a couple bowls of potato chips. Go see for yourself.

sometimes after the game the other team's cheerleaders come through there.  I've also seen Dick Pitino.  He was too slow on the high five.   :D

I shared a booth in the Blue & Gold Room with Pitino once after a game...woke up naked and sore.  Weird.

All the swell people hang out in there at half time, eating cookies.

Do they sell beer in the Blue and Gold room? I can't remember as I haven't been in it in years. If they would sell food, and beer, I'd consider it as a pre-game stop instead of a local bar.

'topper, the swell people hang out in the Courtside Club.  From the Official Swell People Web Site:

The Courtside Club is the hospitality room located on the west side of the Bradley Center near gates C and D. The Courtside Club is now available to anyone who contributes at $2,500 annually. Donors receive two season passes for every $2,500 donated during the current fiscal year (July 1, 2009 to June 30, 2010). The number of Courtside Passes will not exceed the number of season tickets per account.

(Note:  full bar, too expensive, and way too crowded at half time resulting in too many fans missing the first five minutes of the second half.)

The Blue & Gold Room is located in the East, inner lobby of the Bradley Center near gate B and is available for current annual fund donors at $250 and above (July 1, 2009 to June 30, 2010).

There are a few great features about it.

- Bathrooms with pretty much no wait even for sold-out games.
- Access to a full bar with many beers and mixers
- Free appetizers - admittedly not the best quality -- and cookies
- Multiple flat screens with two or three games being shown
- Coat check (great for avoiding getting the freebies stolen/posters bent)

One of the best things about it from my view is that the team walks through and high fives just about everyone in the room about two minutes before tip-off. That includes Buzz, who is always very gracious. My son always gives "the knuckles" to Lazar. You have no idea how huge these guys are until you are standing next to them. Even after seeing him for years, I was always blown away by the size of Wes Matthews. I'm looking forward to sizing up Mbao tonight.

Several years ago my daughter and I went to the game in Pittsburgh.  We went to the brunch before the game in the bowels of the arena.  Just by coincidence, as we were headed to our seats, we ended up in an elevator lobby just as the team walked in.  I agree -- they were huge.  Her jaw dropped and, in truth, mine probably did too.  I was especially shocked by how tall Novak was, but even the "little" guys seemed pretty big.

I wouldn't say the courtside club is expensive when you are paying how much for a beer everywhere else?

true story that it can get packed fairly quickly, but i would say the wait is still shorter than staying in line at the concessions.

Hah!  Funny, the only reason I mistook the CC with the BGR is because when I was sitting in YOUR seats, I noticed all the swell people coming out with cookies and didn't remember the BGR was on the other side of the court.

Signed,

Unwashed Masses.
