Soo why is Syracuse ranked 25th in the coaches poll again?

Must be a slow sports day for this to be the lead on ESPN News.  C'mon people, it's an exhibition game for crying out loud.

Sparty lost to D2 Grand Valley State a couple of years ago.   It didn't seem to derail the program.     This was Lemoyne's Super Bowl.   ::)     And it was a tuneup for 'Cuse.   I am sure they are all going to be much more coachable this week.

the transfer from Iowa State sounds like the real deal...34 points in his first game.

No.  But even though it doesn't count it will get them out of the coaches poll.  At least MSU dropped in the polls after losing the exhibition a couple years ago.

But Syracuse being ranked is a GOOD thing for us.  The more ranked opponents in our conference that we play - and beat - the better.  (Though on an emotional level I'm with you in that I despise Syracuse!)

From ESPN.com:
http://sports.espn.go.com/ncb/news/story?id=4620949 (http://sports.espn.go.com/ncb/news/story?id=4620949)

"After Wes Johnson missed a 3, Can Ozkaner added a free throw with 1.3 seconds left for Le Moyne and Syracuse had its first preseason exhibition loss since a setback against the Harlem Globetrotters six years ago."

Is a loss to the Harlem Globetrotters truly a setback?

Count me as one that fully hopes to see the Harlem Globetrotters on our schedule within the next 2 years...

Men's D1 teams are no longer allowed to play professional or national teams in exhibition.  I believe they're limited to D2/D3 opponents or closed scrimmages.

So did the Globetrotters do their antics when they played college teams or did they keep it legit the enitre time?

Is this why we no longer play the Nike All-Stars or whatever their name was back in late 90's early 00's?

Them, and Marathon Oil, and the Wisconsin All-Stars, etc.  My understanding is that the change stemmed from concerns over college coaches scheduling exhibition games against teams coached by guys who were also AAU coaches of their recruits.

You mean like how Rudy Gay got to UConn...UConn paying nice money to a Baltimore AAU / All-Stars club for an exhibition that also had Rudy Gay in it's program?

Jim Calhoun is so dirty, I've heard he's been offered SEC & Ohio State football jobs.

Didn't 'Cuse lose to another low I or high II recently? Or am I thinking Cleveland State?
