Title: Is there a way to use the Thread View on this site?
Post by: MUEng92 on November 07, 2006, 12:30:11 PM
I grew attached to it on the Rivals site.  I like seeing who posted what, right from the top page.

I am sure I can/will get used to the topic view, but I was wondering if the thread view is available.

Nope, that's the one down side, amongst the many great features here.

Here's a tip, tho .. My favorite is aimed at "Unread" .. that way, I only see what's been posted since I last left.

Unfortunately no.  I looked around for a few hours previously to see if anyone had devised a way.  Essentially the developers of the software have said "can't be done (http://www.simplemachines.org/community/index.php?topic=112357.0)".  I used to use thread view almost exclusively too.  So, this was a change, but I'm already hooked (as you might tell from my online time!).

Some things we CANNOTdo
- Create a threaded view (only topic view available).  This is a limitation of the forum software, and the way the back end database is organized (it's flat - hence 'linear' or 'topic' view).  However, as you've probably noticed, this forum software has a TON on features (and security) that you can't get elsewhere, so it really is worth getting used to the new look.  :)
